Quality Friendlies Good For Ghana Ahead World Cup — Ayew

Ghana captain, Andre Ayew has stated that playing top quality friendly matches will be beneficial to the Black Stars ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana lost 3-0 to Brazil in a friendly last weekend.

Otto Addo’s side have two more friendlies lined up against Nicaragua and Switzerland before the World Cup.

Ayew believes that the Black Stars have the best preparation possible for the tournament.

“Everything is in place for us to have a successful World Cup,”Aljazeera quoted Ayew as saying.

“We must have the best preparation possible but, most importantly, your players must be fit at that time.

“We played Brazil, we’ll play Nicaragua and Switzerland before the World Cup. They are all big games that will be tough even though they are friendlies.

“These matches are beneficial because we put ourselves to the test and come back as a team to maintain bonding and unity. Normally we have two three weeks before the World Cup, but this time we only have about nine days. It’s not ideal but we have to adapt.”

Ayew has scored 23 goals in 107
games for the Black Stars.

The Black Stars are in Group H with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

The Black Stars of Ghana’s best performance at the FIFA World Cup was in South Africa 2010 where they reached the quarter final.

The 2022 World Cup will take place between November 20 and December 18.

Black Stars are going to the World Cup to represent Ghana and Africa! Of course it’s a big deal and newsworthy. However, playing so-called ‘quality friendlies’ a few weeks to the tournament, without showing football intelligence and quality can be counter-productive. Nobody wins the World Cup by boasting alone.

Ghana must start scoring goals. The records on goals are very bad. They also concede a lot, the coach must really improve this team before the tournament. I believe the friendly matches will help a lot. They must build a solid defense, with goals, even one goal can move you far in tournaments. Africa must prepare well, we’ve been very appalling in the world cup and the world do not take us serious

Hopefully in their bext friendly, Ghana, ranked 60 by FIFA can at least beat Nicaragua who are ranked 160 !! Currently, the signs for winning the World Cup as Ghanaians believe, are not very good. The Black Stars are in deep shit.
