Rangnick Pleased With Hard-Fought Win

Ralf Rangnick admitted RB Leipzig were far from at their best but was pleased with how his side dug in to beat Stuttgart on Saturday.

Two goals from Yussuf Poulsen and a strike from Marcel Sabitzer earned Leipzig a 3-1 win to keep them firmly in the hunt for a top-four Bundesliga finish this season.

Rangnick’s men are six points clear of fifth-placed Wolfsburg directly below them after the victory and the boss was satisfied with the result, even if he admitted the performance was patchy after they were forced to alter their approach in the second half.

He said: “We not only changed our formation in the second half, but also our approach to the match. It was vital that we showed a different side to our game in the second 45 minutes.

“It was certainly no brilliant performance from us, and we’ve definitely played better games. But I’m happy that the game panned out like it did. We’ve claimed three crucial points today.”
