Raptors Book Place In NBA Finals

The Toronto Raptors have booked their place in the NBA Finals for the first time following their 4-2 series success over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Raptors sealed their first Eastern Conference title since entering the league back in 1995 after claiming a 100-94 victory in Game Six of the series at the Scotiabank Arena on Saturday night.

Toronto’s win was made all the more impressive as they had been trailing by as many as 15 points during the contest, while they have also had to bounce back in the series as a whole, after losing the opening two games against the top-seeded Bucks.

Head coach Nick Nurse has certainly been impressed by the way his team have been improving throughout the postseason and he hopes that will stand them in good stead when they take on the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. “Our communication, scheme, switching, blitzing, our rotations, contesting shots, all those things have been growing here since the start of the playoffs,” Nurse told reporters.

Toronto will certainly be up against it when they take on a Golden State team that has won the NBA Championship in each of the last two years and they also thrashed the Portland Trail Blazers 4-0 to wrap up the Western Conference title earlier this week. Game One of the Finals is due to get underway in Toronto on Thursday night in what will be the first Finals game ever to take place outside of the United States.
