Real Madrid End Chelsea’s Champions League Dream, Zoom Into Semi-Finals As Chukwueze’s Late Strike Knock Bayern Out

Chelsea’s reign as European champions came to an agonising end despite beating Real Madrid on a night of high drama at the Bernabeu Stadium.

Despite emerging 3-2 winners, it was Madrid who advanced to the semi-finals 5-4 on aggregate after winning the first leg 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Mason Mount opened scoring for Chelsea on 15 minutes before Antonio Rudiger’s powerful header made it 2-0 in the 51st minute which brought the quarter-final tie level.

With 15 minutes left Timo Werner for the third goal which put Chelsea 4-3 ahead on aggregate.

But in the 80th minute substitute Rodrygo finished off a brilliant assist from Luka Modric to send the game to extra-time.

And in the 96th minute Karim Benzema made it 3-2 after heading in Vinicius delightful pass to.

Chelsea almost got a fourth goal late in the game but Jorginho failed to direct his left foot strike towards goal after being left unmarked.

And in Germany, Samuel Chukwueze was the hero as his late strike against Bayern Munich earned Villarreal a 1-1 draw and passage to the semi-finals.

Villarreal went into the second leg tie 1-0 ahead from the revere fixture but went behind when Robert Lewandowski scored on 52 minutes.

But with two minutes left Chukwueze finished off a sweeping counter attack to send Villarreal to their second ever semi-final appearance.
