Real Madrid forward, Rodrygo has revealed he does not like playing in the centre-forward position for both club and country.
The 22-year-old in an interview with Cadena COPE as cited by Managing Madrid, explained this and also his current form alongside his favorite position on the field.
“My favorite position is as an attacking midfielder and then through the wings. I just don’t like playing as a nine but I’m getting better.
“It’s a good opportunity and a privilege but my skill set doesn’t suit that position all that well. I like to play with the ball more, but Vinicius and myself are getting used to it and things are improving,” he said.
He then talked about his current struggles.

“Yes, I was nervous because things weren’t working out for me but now I’m back. I can’t blame anybody but myself, it was my fault.
“It was a new position and I was getting used to it. Now Ancelotti is giving me more freedom and I can play on the wings a bit more. It’s hard playing as a nine there but if the coach thinks I can do it, I’m happy,” he added.
In Madrid’s last two games against Braga and Valencia, Rodrygo ended his goal-scoring drought. Now, he will be looking to continue building confidence and finding the net.
So far this season, Rodrygo has scored five goals and provided four assists in 17 games across all competitions for Madrid.
The Brazil international made a €45 million switch to Los Blancos from Santos in the 2019/20 season. He won the LaLiga title in his first season at the club.
Since then, the 22-year-old has added another league title and the UEFA Champions League alongside other major trophies.
