‘Really Proud Of Myself’ — Boniface Reflects On Maiden Champions League Goal

Victor Boniface is in buoyant mood after opening his UEFA Champions League goal account for Bayer Leverkusen.

Boniface netted the decisive goal in Bayer Leverkusen’s 1-0 victory over Serie A giants, AC Milan at the BayArena on Tuesday night.

The Nigeria international slotted the ball into net after Mike Maignan had parried Jeremie Frimpong’s shot.

The striker was replaced by Martin Terrier 15 minutes from time.

The 23-year-old reflected on the special moment after the game.

“As a striker, it’s important to score every game not just in the Champions League but every game. We try to do our best every game – the league, Cup and Champions League,” Boniface told TNT Sports.

“I’m happy I got the first goal in the Champions League so I feel really proud of myself.”

He has scored four goals across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen this season.
