Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro continued his monitoring of home-based players, as he was present in Ikenne, Ogun State, for the NPFL game between Remo Stars and Enyimba on Sunday.
It is the third league venue Peseiro has visited since becoming head coach of the Eagles.
Peseiro was pictured sitting alongside the proprietor of Remo Stars Kunle Soname.
His first visit was in Ilorin, Kwara State for the game between Kwara United and Sunshine Stars.
Then last weekend, he was in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State to watch the league encounter between Akwa United and Plateau United.
In Sunday’s fixture, Remo Stars emerged winners thanks to Sikiru Alimi’s 46th minute strike.

Peseiro replaced Austin Eguavoen as Super Eagles head coach and has handled four games, losing two and winning two.
His first game was against Mexico in a friendly which ended in a 2-1 loss before suffering another defeat to Ecuador, this time going down 1-0.
He recorded his first win as Eagles coach following a 2-1 comeback win against Sierra Leone in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in Abuja.
Then he led the Eagles to their biggest ever win thanks to a 10-0 humiliation of São Tomé and Principe.

I think this man can pass to be the best foreign coach ever for Super Eagles at the way he is taking his job seriously. I think he is comfortable under his skin watching the local league. My thing is may be in the past, our NFF administrators indulged the past foreign coaches and the reason why they did not take watching the local league and matches seriously.
Because he watched 3 NPFL matches. He’s the best foreign coach?
Na so una Dey come to conclusion for una life.
Nigerians don’t even watch NPFL talk less of foreigners.
They are waiting for EPL to resume.
I bet you can’t name 3 players in a Nigerian NPFL team but will name Man United, Chelsea, Man City , Arsenal etc first eleven
MR JOHN he said “HE can pass to be”…
Not HE is….
@John…. Ki la gbe, ki le ju?… What have said to warrant your ”Na so una dey come to conclusion for una life” outburst. But sha, by their fruits, we shall know them. I come in peace and I forgive you. God bless you all.
It is clearer than the daylight that our best legs are not in the NPFL. If they are that good they would not ne bundled out of the continental championships year in year out. And many of them are age cheats. They are in their prime and of no use considering how crude many of them are. The present time is not like the days of Wessterhof.
My advice for Pesseiro is for him not to burn himself out on exercise in futility. He should rather focus his energy on some talents in our under 20 and mostly on foreign based players. That is where the future of the present Super Eagles lies.
When NFF gets serious and they have clearly defined blueprint for NPFL development we can then be talking about our coaches monitoring them. Dare is clueless and visionless. I am almost sure the way Pesseiro is playing to the gallery is his idea. They should stop wasting the man’s time and energy. Not to talk about the security concerns in the country. I hope Pesseiro will not be kidnapped someday in the course of this “noble” adventure he has embarked on. We need him safe and mentally sound.
Your advice to Peseiro is to stay away from watching league… talking as if the foreign pros have achieved anything since 2014 WC second round… Even the worst Ghana team bundled your so-called foreign base out of World Cup. People like you should hide for face and not come here to speak like a confused man… EPL to where it is today with patronage and steady progress. Let the man do his job how he knows best… Ndah left Akwa United to Orlando Pirates and became an instant hit.
JimmyBall thank you. That was how they supported Rohr that even Ekong complained that his subsitutions were incredible as far back as 2017. Yet he spent 5 years plus as our coach. A man that cannot make correct substitutions was celebrated.
He never liked home based players talk more of watching them. Now they want to disdain Jose Peseiro. His presence alone has grately encouraged those players and boasted their morale to high heavens.
Abi o….
Jimmyball… Jimmyball…. Thank you very much for your honesty and sincerity. Please say Amen to all of these prayers. You will live long. You will not be disgraced. You will achieve greater heights. You see, I did that because Nigerians a lot of whom just talk with no knowledge whatsoever do so only to disgrace themselves. When I was young, no one watched EPL, I can remember very well. They did what they’re supposed to do and became big and then all of a sudden they have become a standard that if we do not copy, we become bad. Must we even go by the white man’s standards, who says their standards are the best? The guy is one of those who is still suffering from colonial mentality but doesn’t realize it. He’s the type that thinks anything from a white skin is better than us. Listen Jimmyball, the Nigerian league is a replica of the La Liga, it’s just that it won’t improve if we don’t do what is right. That same league produced Sunday Mba that won us the nations cup in 2013. That same league produced Ejike Uzoenyi who was the most valuable player at one of the tournaments. Keshi, etc all played in that same league and someone will come online to display gross ignorance. Thanks for replying his illiteracy!
And where is the MBAH today???
LMFAO!!
This MAHMOUD SHUAIBU and NDAH sha…
LMFAO!!
@JimmyBall @JimmyBall @JimmyBall… bros we are in accordance with some things in the past but on this one I will have to woefully disagree with you. Let us not let blind patriotisim and misguided loyalty cloud sound thinking. Super Eagles is not childs play in any event there should be a clear path for home based players to make SE it should not be a sould right because they are home based. Our best foreign exports in Europe the likes of Osimhen are from the Academy Not NPFL. NPFL has been in shambles for many many years now . Infact the best players that come out of NPFL are the ones that get discovered after they have been exposed to some European football and moved up the ranks in European Hierachy leagues i.e. Etebo comes to mind other than that when we try to hand them SE shirts in recent years they prove flash in the pans and fade to obscurity our league is in Shambles the poor infrastructre allows for poor developement of a player and if they stay in the league past 24 or 25 they most likely will not reach the international developement standard as the saying goes you cannot teach a dog new tricks.. We have seen it last year againts Mexico we where humbled or rather humiliated by a SE squad made up of Home based players and this year Ecuador and Mexico the NPFL p[layers that came on were way off the desired standard to compete with International players Super Eagles is not Childs play these players must Deserve a place no handed on platter because we are petting them for being homebased how does that sound now some of the better players from NPFL this year much like Iwuala and Ndah did last year have moved abroad now we will forget them and clamour for players that are still iin the league who these guys outshined much like what is happening to Iwuala and Ndah.. where is the sense in all this clamour for NPFL players come on man… Look Bro we had better get our league up to scratch and retain the best NPFL talents dominate Africa win CHAN then the Top Players from those campaigns will automatically demand a place in SE at least a chance to fight for a Shirt not this Hand them a Shirt because they are NPFL. Pesiero is there wtaching them but a blue print needs to be laid out and a path for NPFL players to move up the ranks to qualify to SE must be laid out much like I have done above we are doing our football no justice if we handle this matter any other way,

@Debo I think we are on the same page Super Eagles is our National team and we should hold the team to high standards.
At the end of the day, it will be interesting to see how many local league players he invites.
Some people like living in fools’ paradise. I do not have to argue with such people. If anyone is not capable of reading and understanding simple english, they are the ones who are supposed to bury their heads in shame. Definitely not me.
@Jimmyball, you should be ashamed of yourself. the same foreign based players who were qualifying for competitions with two games to spare until “your own” came and rained on our parade. Was it the foreign based who lost the world cup ticket or your idiot of a coach who did not even know that Ghanians have changed formation. It took one of his players to tell him that the formation had changed.
And are you saying if this same Eguaevon took home based player to play against Ghana he would have qualified with them? Because by inference, you sounded like your magical home based players would have qualified us? As far as I’m concerned, your logic is completely out of tune.
I will tell you what will likely happen eventually. After Pesseiro had wasted his time on this NPFL games, he will eventually start doing things right if he was not kidnapped before he wakes up from his lofty dream. And what will be our gain afterward? All the home based players Pesseiro took to play the last two friendlies, how many of them did he call for the qualifier games? You can see that a sensible coach knows when to separate boys from men. And for all your co liars who said Rohr did not like home based, I am mot surprised. Biased people are hardly sensible in their argument.
And who said a coach should not watch NPFL game? I only said it is not at this moment in time when our league is fruitless. The morons in the glass house are waiting for an oyinbo man to come and build the NPFL while they sit down bereft of ideas, only looting money. They need to first set up a proper structure for our league and make it productive, before mandating a senior team coach to start going around like a headless chicken. In the days of Wessterhof, Naija league was good enough for a coach to go around and watch games. But not in the present era.
Let us assume that by any chance Pesseiro managed to discover a few players from NPFL. Putting in the same amount of energy, for one player he would discover in the NPFL he would have discovered three good players outside of NPFL. It is the like of Dare and other vultures who want NPFL players to dominate SE at all cost because of their greed and selfish reasons. And if Pesseiro does not smell the coffee on time, they will not hesitate to throw him under the bus if he fails.
Ire o.
Ignore those sons of Segun Odegbami and Dare. I’m surprised he still have the temerity to talk in this platform, after him and his consurtuim of 9 professors local coaches A.K.A LET US FAIL WITH OUR OWN group coaches disgrace themselves by losing to a COVID stricken team without a coach and also losing to the worst Ghanian team ever. He should be having his conversation with Equavon, the coach who couldn’t notice that the opponent team have change tactics. What a cluelessness.
Our homebase should conquer CHAN competitions, CAF club competitions let us know they are capable. Not Losing out in group stages of this competitions year in year out.
I advise the new coach to instead look into our Un17 and Un20 and select what he wants, especially Un17 because in that Un20 somebody son can be close 30 and is Un20
U-17 and U-20 players are still a good option but you forgot that the guys who excelled for the U-20… Players like Ojo… (the No. 17 plays for Remo Stars) and Ibrahim (the No. 11 from Gombe United) are all league players. Some of you just don’t want to accept that if the league is watched closely, there are young talented players in all the league teams, a lot of young players are in the league now, atleast some who started early and did not have to jackdown their ages too much… The NPFL, NNL and the grassroot soccer academies are still the place where you can have a better pool to draw exceptional players from to support those we have abroad… A lot of us know some of the foreign based guys are low quality and just thriving on hype. Those sort of players needs to cast off…
Oga have you taken your medications or we need to send you to the fake doctor in Vienna zoo. Why should jimmy be ashamed that he said we wasted 6 years with a man who came up with every excuse in the books not to invite foreign based players. Maybe you need to go review the match squad list for the last 2 games we played to know the number of local players invited. Why didn’t your foreign base win or draw the 2 friendlies they played. And mind you this are the by products of the oyinbo man we had for 6 years. WHo is asking the oyinbo man to come and fix the league, his observation and input can help improve things. How long did it take before premier league teams began wining European championships. So please if you have nothing interesting to say. Kindly save your data.
I disagree with Debo who didn’t give a good comment on NPFL, I think Peseiro on the right route to improve Super Eagles team on his trips around Nigeria in order to attend NPFL matches for searching about talent players to combine them on SE ; so this a good idea from him to combine based players at SE.
