Leeds Rhinos are the favourites to sign Manly forward Joel Thompson in the coming months, according to reports.
The 30-year-old is coming to the end of his contract with the Sea Eagles and League Weekly claim Rhinos Leeds are ready to open talks with his representatives.
Thompson has played over 200 games in the NRL after representing Manly, Canberra Raiders and St George Illawarra.
The second-row forward has started all of Manly’s games this year but both Leeds and Wakefield are tracking him as he is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Leeds are hoping a lengthy contract will tempt him overseas and Thompson admitted last month that he is open to anything.

He told the NRL’s official website: “I’m always open to anything. Rugby League has given me everything so whatever comes I’ll be happy with that. “We’ve spoken as a family, we’d like the life experience of going over to a different country and getting paid for it would be pretty special. “I probably won’t get that again in my life.
But I’ll take it for whatever comes and get on with it.”
