Rohr Backs Kalu To Rediscover Best Form At Bordeaux

Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr has backed Samuel Kalu to rediscover his best form for club and country, Completesports.com reports.

Kalu struggled to get near his best for French club Girondis Bordeaux last season.

The pacy winger managed just one goal and two assists in 20 league appearances for Les Girondis.

He fell out with former manager Paulo Sousa, who criticised him for his lack of effort in training.

The former KAA Gent of Belgium player was also linked with a number of clubs during the winter transfer window.

The 23-year-old is now enjoying a new lease of life under Jean- Louis Gasset.

Kalu scored his first goal of the season in Bordeaux’s 2-1 away loss to Lens last weekend.

“There’s this Kalu who was playing very, very well with me and Nigeria, who lost a bit of confidence last season. It was not going very well with the staff from the previous season,” Rohr told girondis4ver.com.

”There, he was trying to find a little of his means, both physical and moral. It is resurfacing. With the new staff, he will have more possibilities to play in his real position, which is the position of a pure winger, dribbler, centralizer, who can even score goals as he did with us.

” I hope to see him again on Sunday against Nice ”

  • Gernot Rohr is a Bastard So he is waiting for Kalu to rediscover form when Henry Onyekuru has found very good form yet is been excluded. Musa has not had form in almost 2years yet always gets the nod. Rohr needs to be fired PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Must you comment?? Fire Rohr na, shebi na u be NFF wey employ am… Lolz. The man is trying to encourage a player and you are busy raving about Onyekuru who could not take his chance when he had it in last years Afcon… Oboi go sleep abeg

    • @ugo ewu u are the real bastard here i have never read any positive thing from you ur own is to insult and calling people names,we are not here for that senseless human being

Mr Ugo do you even watch football at all? The fact that rhor same Samuel should rediscover his form does not mean Samuel and your onyekuru are in the same level oooooo. I will advise you travel and watch league one match and compare the both of them. In addition @Ugo and the rest of us, please let us stop this name calling and insult as dear children of God.

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.
God bless you all in Jesus name and God bless Nigeria.

I mean to say you try and watch.

  • @Ugo. Guy, you be agent to Onyekuru? Because na only you dey see say the guy na superstar. Me, I no dey see am so. Rohr too doesn’t see it so. No other fan here has cried blue murder over Onyekuru’s relegation to the standby list. Only you have been bleating about it.

If you’re not Onyekuru’s agent, please go and watch his play in the Nigeria/Algeria SF in the last Afcon, then come back and rate him. Or if you’re Rohr, you’ll not drop him in your pecking order after that minus 1 performance that suddenly made it look we were playing 10 against 11 after he was subbed on?

    Onyekuru is good, but he’s not a Ronaldo. He’s not a Musa. He’s not a Kalu. He’s not a superstar. He’s meh. He’s average.

Today, he’s on the reserve list. Pray by next year, he’s not completely dropped like Agbo, Nwaekeme, Junior Ajayi, Esiti and the rest of them.
