Rohr: Madagascar Will Be Tough; Expect Changes For Eagles’ Victory

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr anticipates a tough battle against debutants Madagascar in Sunday’s Group B clash at the Alexandria Stadium, reports Completesports.com.

The three-time winners are already through to the Round of 16 after winning their opening two games against the Swallows of Burundi and Syli Nationale of Guinea.

Madagascar who are second in the group behind the Super Eagles have four points from two games.

A win for either side will guarantee them a place at the top of the group at the end of action on Sunday.

Rohr insists his side can expect a tough game against one of the competition’s minnows.

“Madagascar will be tough, they have a good team and we started on the same day and I believe they won’t be tired against us,” Rohr told a news conference at the Alexandria Stadium on Saturday.

“They are better than us offensively because they have scored more goals. I have sympathy for what happened to them two days ago where 16 people lost their lives in a stadium accident.”

The German tactician also hinted that he will make changes in his squad for the game.

“There will be changes because I want to put everyone under pressure from the goalkeepers to the strikers. The final training session will determine the number of changes.”

They are better than us offensively…. Rohn get ready to be slaughtered. But for me this is a prove of his mind games.

  • I wanna use this medium to introduce myself properly to this forum. I’m Paul Victor by name popularly known as Sirvictory.
Let me start by saying I have been reading almost 90% of the comments on this forum and would love to be part of this great, interesting, lovely and funny family.
I must say I’m impress with you guys analysis. Must you here have convincingly earned my respect especially guys like…. Dr Drey, Doe, Kel, Samuel Chima E, Edoman, Mr Hush, Ndibuisi, Oge. This list won’t be complete without mentioning that controversial guy Omo9ja haha. I laugh anytime I read your comments though I don’t agree with some of them. How can you call our OGA Rohr a failure haba take your time oo well, I know Dr Drey is always ready for you lolz.
Most at times we tend to disagree with each other well, I know arguments and constructive criticism is also part of the game but, while expressing yourself you should do it respectfully. I love you all thanks.
    God bless Nigeria!!

I welcome you with all my heart. Join us to make it more interesting. We agree to disagree. One love

    • You are well come sir victory.
We hope to enjoy your analysis as well.

Well, concerning tomorrow’s match , the super eagles must be very careful because in football there are no more minnows. We saw how the Guineans narrowly escaped been beaten by these guys.
For rohr, u know I don’t like u but your decisions in the last match seem to have caused me to repose a little level of confidence on ur abilities.
Please listen up, Akpeyi should be taken back to his 3rd choice position, let Enzeawa be at the post.
My heart seem to beat fast any time a ball is shot at akpeyi or passed to him; he is too susceptible to mistakes and lacks the requisite confidence and courage befitting the rank of a goalie of the dreaded super eagles team.

We respect Mikel’s position as an inspiration and motivation for the boys while at the bench. Let him remain there till about 80mins of the game , then u can bring him in as an elder statesman as a substitute for Iwobi.
That decision to take off iwobi for chukwueze is remote and technically a fatal accident. With a goal up and few minutes Mikel is situated as a holding midfielder.
Chukwueze is needed when we need a goal that’s if u think he is not capable of making ur starting 11;though I wonder!

To my mind , this happens to be a golden age for the super eagles with a credible bench as much viable and solid as the first 11.
If we can’t win this time, hmmmm.

Plz play onyekuru for me. That is our best forward as far as I am concerned.

Ayphilly and Dr Drey will sooner or later come to accept the errors of their ways.

In due time, they will dedicated themselves to immortal omo9ja to direct them in all matters relating to Nigeria football.

That’s why you need to beat minnows silly. There are no minnows is a cliche, big boys should use their everything to stamp authority. It will be terrible if after this boast we just barely survive or beat Magadascar. Rohr appears to be the only ‘modest’ coach. Even Burundi coach claimed we were lucky..

    • In as much as that the bench should be given game time, team cohesion is also very important. Oga Rohr should work seriously on the attack, also selfishness should not be tolerated. Welcome @victory and @cosilo

We can use tomorrow’s game to assess the fitness level of Kalu, please Rohr warm your players against committing silly fouls outside the box, Madagascar are good free kick takers.i don’t see Madagascar getting any point from that game tomorrow

    Kaa nu!!

You guys are welcome all over the world.

I’m happy you guys are here. Please invite other people to this site, let’s make here more popular than KO South Africa.

We’ve come a long way right from KON over 10 years ago until it went defunct. We even tried to erect another sports blog in those days after KON closed down but we didn’t succeed. Lol.

    Back to the subject matter.

Rohr biko, abeg,e Jo,please ,remove Akpeyi from the post today. Let Ezenwa or Uzoho man the post. Bring Mikel on as a substitute when the game is about ending.

Tell our strikers to play for each other in the 18 yard box…that’s what makes messi thick.

    No selfish play today.

    Best of the lucks today.

I think playing against Madagascar shouldn’t be a problem at all.. We are not in the same level. This is not about boasting. Imagine Madagascar?

Some of my colleagues here are shaking already like kilode. What is the point of having a team like Super Eagles under coach Rohr that everyone of us have no trust in the team?

This is very frustrating. Madagascar? A problem to Super Eagles team? I still can’t believed it. A world cup team? I don’t think so. Hmm, if Super Eagles play draw vs Madagascar, that would be a big shame to the Super Eagles team.

I’m expecting our reserve bench to play this match not the first 11. Madagascar to Nigeria? The different is clear. Coach Rohr is not playing mind game because he knows the capacity of his team.

I said it last week, 1 goal per match should be something the coach should be worried about.

Do we think we can fight back if our opponents scored first? Why the team can’t score goals from freekicks? Corner kicks? In one word, set pieces?

I am not putting the team down. I don’t hate coach Rohr. This team is not gel yet. I’m not putting pressure on them but they have a lot to do. Fingers crossed. God bless Nigeria!!!

No team is a minnow anymore. No matter how we try to deny it. Peru just knocked out Uruguay last night from Copa America. Madagascar is no push-overs in this tournament. Let’s approach this game with all seriousness.

    • Ayphillydegreat 5 years ago

I’m sure you’re the only one who doesn’t have faith in the team. Nigerians all over are falling in love with the SuperEagles. A fan recently wrote a marvelous poem for Balogun. The worst case scenario against Madagascar is a draw. I don’t think anyone is panicking about facing Madagascar. The boys just need to approach the game in a professional way. Deep down inside you; you know you’re just been evil enemy of progress. “Why the team can’t score goals from set pieces??? Are you kidding me?? Which planet are you living?? How did we beat Guinea?? This omo9ja guy must be living in a zoo. Are you sure you’re not already biting trees???

      • Peterside Udah 5 years ago

@Aypilly! Abomination of the highest order! May I never make a WhatsApp call with my television.

How can you say the all-seeing, all-knowing, all-engrossing one lives in a zoo. Chai! Tufiakwa!

No one likes the Super Eagles like the great omo9ja. The wealth of his knowledge and vastness of his wisdom is incomprehensible. There is none like him.

He is our shepherd and we his sheep.

You have been a prodigal son but Emperor Omo9ja will forgive you. Just Repent and apologise for your errant ways, then we will welcome you back to the community of progressives.

Don’t miss your calling, Omo9ja is your master.

        • Ayphillydegreat 5 years ago

Community of backwardness that’s what y’all belong to. SuperEagles is progressing so I’m following the progress with passion. You can continue living in backwardness.

Hmmmm, if Winston Churchill was living, he would not have said the sort of things that you said about baba guvnor Omo9ja.

Am I the only respectful fan left alive? I am the only one who can see the pestilence that Emperor Omo9ja is trying to alert us to?

My brother, don’t go the way of Ayphilly and Drey. Those 2 have lost their way. They are subversive elements and their nefarious ways will catch up with them sooner rather than later.

But you are a virgin. Don’t let others introduce you to something bad before you are ready.

      Rohr has failed, full stop.

Omo9ja does not hate Rohr, he loves him. If only Rohr can be humble and give Rohr a call, then he will receive valuable advice.

You are a good guy, do not pollute your mind by being disrespectful to the all-conquering omo9ja.
