Rohr, Ndidi React To S/Eagles 2022 World Cup Qualifying Group

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr and midfielder Wilfred Ndidi have reacted to the Qatar FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifying draw, Completesports.com reports.

The draw which was held on Tuesday in Cairo Egypt, pitched the Eagles in Group C with Cape Verde, Central Africa Republic and Liberia.

And reacting to the outcome of the draw Rohr says the Eagles must be at their best to finish ahead the other three teams.

“We’ve three tricky opponents in Group C,” Rohr was quoted on the Super Eagles verified Twitter handle.

“A few years ago, Cape Verde were Africa’s best FIFA ranked team, CAR have some good players in Europe and we played a friendly in Liberia recently that wasn’t easy…we’ve to be at our best against them.”

And according to Ndidi, the Eagles first game will be vital.

Ndidi said: “This is the World Cup, no room for complacency. Every game must be taken seriously. Our first game is going to be the most important as well as all our home games, and even away games. We must make it to the 3rd round.”

The 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will commence in October.

“A few years ago, Cape Verde were Africa’s best FIFA ranked team” I hope I’m not dreaming because Cape Verde was never a top10 African team except best mover. Anyway since overrating the opposition teams has helped in past during qualifiers I won’t mind adopting this same pattern until the job is done!

Chima, shows how much you know. Google is your friend. In 2015, Cape Verde rose to 39th in the World & 1st in Africa. In the 2014 Qualifiers they beat Tunisia 2 nil in Tunis to top the group but got that result overturned by fielding a suspended player. The should have played Cameroun in the final playoffs instead of Tunisia. Also our last game with them was the nil-all draw in a friendly on our way to winning the 2013 AFCON.They also beat South Africa home & away in the 2018 qualifiers. They are to be taken seriously.

Well noted. But today they lie in 78th and  we are bringing back their past glory to put us under pressure or what? How I wished we matched CIV I wonder what Rohr will be singing by now.

Still thanks for the correction regardless I expect a Nigerian teams once ranked 5th to beat a Cape Verde team that was once ranked 27th.

Yes, but you should have known Rohr by now, This is how he talks and it is working for us like you said earlier. He always talk humbly like a lamb but comes out against you like an lion.

If he meets CIV, it makes no difference because you forgot in the last world cup qualification, He battered then reigning champion Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia. Even Egypt that Nigeria could hardly beat in our past was defeated by Rohr. Senegal has not yet defeated Rohr. It is only recently that Algeria has been able to take their pound of flesh after we stopped them the last time.

So as long as Africa is concerned, no matter what Rohr says he sure knows how to handle the teams, whether big or small. And one of his strategy is talking humbly. Ride on Rohr we they your back.

Our manager is a very humble personality that doesn’t talk much but know the kind of player he needs to prosecute his match to get what he wants, but true that Cape Verde were ones best team in Africa but can not match the SE of Nigeria with the kind of player that we have now not even Liberia or car
