Rohr Proud Of Super Eagles Display In Friendly Draw Vs Brazil

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr is satisfied with the performance of his players in Sunday’s 1-1 friendly draw against five-time world champions, Brazil, reports Completesports.com.

The three-time African champions took the lead in the 35th minute courtesy of a fine effort from Joe Aribo.

Brazil equalised three minutes after the break with Real Madrid midfielder, Casemiro slotting the ball home after Marquinhos header initially hit the woodwork.

“It was tough for us as the second game because Brazil would not have wanted to leave Singapore without winning, and it feels very good to know that we can play so well against some of the biggest names in football,”Rohr told reporters after the game.

“We didn’t have our best team here, but our wingers gave Brazil a lot of problems on the counter-attack and I am proud of our players. They can have a good future.

“We can still improve in defending set-pieces. We have height, with players as tall as two metres, but we have to be better in the air.

“It is not enough just to have good size, they need to jump well with good timing.

“These results are good for African football when Senegal and Nigeria did not lose to Brazil, one of the strongest teams in the world.”

  • FINALLY RHOR HAS EARNED HIMSELF A BRAGGING RIGHT AS A SUPER EAGLES COACH.
With this Brazil match yesterday and the one versus Ukraine last month, I am now a convert.
I believe that Mr. Rhor has finally turned a new leaf, he has come to understand that the SE and Nigerians like to win, or at least go down fighting; that we are the most confident Black nation on the face of the earth.

Congratulations Rhor! Congratulations the indefatigable Super Eagles of Nigeria.

We are so proud of your performance on these last two games.
Pls. Keep it up and lets go get the Olympics and contend for the world cup in 2022.

  • _An Unlikely Result_

When the friendly match against Brazil was first making the rounds, many initially didn’t want to believe it.

It is a hoax; it is fake news; it will not happen – were the chorus on many lips.

Funny enough, when Aribo latched on to Simon’s beautifully threaded pass to bombard his way through visibly shocked Brazilian defence, it was as if the whole world paused for 5 seconds!

It can’t be; we are not about to take the lead against mighty Brazil, or are we?

Then reality struck! Aribo had the nerves to smash his shot beyond the hapless Man City goalkeeper confirming once and for all that this has to be a sort of hoax!

Nigeria can’t be leading Brazil, that was not even in the script!

But yes, it was happening; a sort of real hoax.

For long periods, the Super Eagles ceded possession to their more illustrious opponents, content to soak pressure, sit back and attempt to punish Brazil on the break.

Chukwueze: what is there more to say? The Villarreal man fits perfectly into this style of play. And so does Ahmed Musa who could also have given the Brazilians something else to think about.

But, as we were still in dreamland, the Brazil equaliser quickly woke us up and brought us back to the edge of our seats; back to familiar territory.

But the territory still somewhat remained rather not too familiar as we marvelled at the focus, concentration and application displayed by our boys to ensure that the scoreline remained a respectable 1:1 to cap a wonderful night for African football.

Perhaps Rohr put it best when he said:”These results are good for African football when Senegal and Nigeria did not lose to Brazil, one of the strongest teams in the world.”

The whole world has seen what Rohr has accomplished. Bringing Nigeria from the football wilderness to global prominence. We are now a country that the best in the world want to play matches with. We almost beat Copa America champions Brazil yesterday. Clubs in Europe and elsewhere are likely very curious about Rohr now. Perhaps With the NFF messing up regarding his salary, an offer for Rohr’s services might come soon! He is obviously worth more than we are paying him at the moment. So this is to appeal to Mr. Rohr to please stay behind and finish what he started. Take us to Qatar 2022! Rohr, please don’t go!!!

    Coach. Rohr . Great game
The Brazilians commented that the SE played with a lot of physical presence that it was hard for them to break their defences . Aribo showed that he had a great intellect on how to score that amazing goal . Great work for both him and Steven Gerard. Alex. Iwobi needs someone to give him a run for his money esp in that central midfield position . Because he’s not been impressive lately . Coach Rohr made one error which he still makes , substituting players at late mins esp when it comes to crucial wins . It was the same mistake that he made agaunst Argentina @ the world cup and also the same mistake he made agaunst Ukraine I’m the friendlies. He too needs work as well . I believe that the entire team have what it takes to do better and become champions in any competition they participate esp the world cup…..

They just have to keep working harder….

NFF, after setting Africa team friendly matches , endeavor to set up a friendly match against the Portuguese national team with Cristiano Ronaldo in it….

You’re truly a great coach. You have proven your class yet again!!! We ain’t rejoicing that we got a draw with Brazil but we know it’s a very positive result and a sign that we are getting there gradually. we can see ur great plans for the eagles. I know the Reason why you’re still with us is bcs of your love for the eagles. That’s just it. The so called pep gurdiolas of Africa have not achieved what you have achieved in a very short period of time and yet some evil people still want you to go but that’s just the way life is. Some people are just evil that they would stop at nothing to discredit one’s efforts and achievements but they(ur achievements and efforts) all speak for you. The world is watching and ur pedigree is rising very fast with the eagles. All I’m asking is for you to take us to the Olympics and world cup, this is ur mission and I hope you keep ur promise by staying around till then. Then, afterwards, they can bring their pep gurdiola, amuneke and herve renard to continue from where u stopped (if they can). You have done well my able coachee, ure making all these big teams look ordinary.

Is this the same rohn everyone wanted out after the afcon, so happy amnji pinnick did not listen to many Nigerians who know nothing but made empty noise about football.

If only he had listen to majority call we would have been starting all over again.

I remember years back after olishe resigned from a poor looking Nigeria team another French coach was ashamed to be named the nigeeia coach because truly our football was so lowly placed at that point in time, imagine a Uganda team beating us here in Nigeria, South Africa coming to draw us in akwa ibom and many other discouraging results, oh we have forgotten easily, we almost named innocent akwa ibom Stadium cursed because we were struggling, yet many have forgotten.

The way things are going the future is bright, we should be grateful with pinick because he doesn’t listen to what many Nigerians say to him, but does his work, he is not perfect no doubt, but he has done well

  • They boys tried.
