Rohr, Schafer Battle For Mali Coaching Job

Rohr, Schafer Battle For Mali Coaching Job

Former Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr is among the three coaches shortlisted for the Mali national team coaching job.

German Winfried Schafer and former Mali international Eric Chelle are the other two contenders for the job.

The Malian football federation (FEMAFOOT) dismissed head coach Mohamed Magassouba on April 1 following the failure of the Eagles to secure a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

According to Afrik Foot, no less than 57 candidates submitted their credentials.

Rohr, 68, is a strong candidate with immense experience at both club and international levels.

He is best known for his time with Nigeria’s Super Eagles from 2016 to 2021, leading them to qualification for the 2018 World Cup, as well as a third-place finish at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Rohr has also managed the national teams of Gabon, Niger and Burkina Faso.

Chelle, 44, is an Ivorian-born former Malian international who has worked at French clubs GS Consolat, FC Martigues and US Boulogne. He has a reputation as an exciting young coach, though a lack of experience at international level could count against him.

Schafer, 72, is the surprise package of the trio. The German led Cameroon to AFCON glory 20 years ago, but has not managed in African football since 2004.

FEMAFOOT will conduct final interviews in the coming days before naming their choice approximately a month before the start of qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON.

Mali have been drawn in Group G of the qualifiers, alongside Congo, Gambia and South Sudan.

That is the way to go Oga Rohr. Go and prove your worth to Nigerians that you have what it takes to rule African football ⚽️.

I wish you the best Mr. Gernot Rohr. God bless Nigeria!!!

      Useless hypocrite…!

Switches mouth faster than Nigerian NEPA switches off power when its about to rain.

Only a few weeks ago, you were one of the accursed bunch who were going “if he was that good, why are other countries not after him”…..now yo have shamelessly switched your lying serpentous tongue as usual, to patronizing the same man you hounded till death.

I thought your owns were far better than Rohr….why are they not being linked to even Djibouti or Seychelles or CAR national team jobs. Oh….I forgot…their CVs are empty……LMAOooo…they cant get jobs anywhere else except the sentimental jobs they get from NFF whenever the federation decides to rehabilitate and empower them with jobs.

A Congolese is coach of RS Berkane of Morocco, A South African is coach of Al-ahly of Egypt, an Egyptian (abi na Moroccan sef) is coach of Al-Ahli Tripoli of Libya….all semi finalists in this year’s CAF club competitions…..but your owns will rather busy themselves with planning how to ban foreign born players from the SE, planning how to get rid of a performing coach so they can take over and destroy everything as usual rather than dust their lazys asses off and go build their CVs and advance their failing/failed coaching careers.

Rohr has not even stopped receiving his monthly salary from the NFF yet, he has already been linked to 2 national teams……LMAOooooo.

The heavens will never stop dealing deadly blows of shame to you and your group of retrogressives

I am so sorry for you my pikin. You are too young to understand me.

You that doesn’t know the difference between God and heavens can not comprehend me.

Heavens were created by God so, Heaven is not God.

God is difference. God is not human and no eyes can see God.
Heavens were created like Prophets and other things. They can’t do anything except they take permission from God almighty.

I am trying to explain between God and Heavens for you. My pikin, you can see the reason why I don’t argue with you today.

Just count yourself lucky to be a doctor.

However, I have been saying this all this while that I do not hate Oga Rohr but he wasn’t good enough to coach Super Eagles.

He did his best which I can’t take that from him but Super Eagles is bigger than he Oga Rohr and even, coach Eguavoen. You see now young man that I don’t follow people blindly because, am representing Nigeria.

I hate nobody my pikin, am just a such of person that likes to call a spade a spade. I can’t wish a human being like bad luck. That is me for you.

Happy Friday to you Dr.Drey. my regards to you partner, Oakfield. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

        • Just take your time and read all you type here over again “Old man” it’s either you are already clocking 100 or you are just something else..well, you have others here that speaks your language.

        • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Ode okponu. Kaa da fun ire ati pikin ofo to bi.

In your mind you have successfully analyzed the difference between heavens and God as if anyone cares. It only goes to show how much of an illiterate and intellectually bankrupt ogre you are.

There is no blinder supporter on this forum than you. You who never saw anything good in Rohr. Bad mouthed and maligned him for the good job he was doing…meeting all his targets with flying colours.

You jubilated to the highest heavens when he was sacked and praised your Eguadiola to the same highest heavens with all sorts of Monickers…..Mr No-nonsense, Mr Total football, Mr better than Rohr, Mr more tactical than Rohr….Mr this, Mr that. Just deny it and I go copy and paste all your praise-singing of a perenial failure just because of your blindness.

I hope you enjoyed the disaster and failure he brought you while it lasted…..something we never experienced all through Rohr’s tenure.

Rohr was bad, Rohr was bad….at least werent disgraced in the only AFCON he led us too….neither were we bundled out of qualifying for any tournament he was mandated to qualify us for.

The SE is bigger than Oga Rohr…..I hope you got what you wanted with your 9 thieves who are bigger than the SE that your replaced him with….LMAOoooo

          Abirun oshi….!

All you Rohr Haters. Ndi Rohr has not been linked to another team, Ngwa No other countries will hire Rohr. Eat shit. Your hatred of an innocent coach will eat you all alive. What will come back to haunt you shortsighted crooks is when Rohr brings a team to Abuja to defeat Nigeria. Your wickedness has blinded you to see that Rohr is great.

  • KENNETH 2 years ago

Why all this noise now. Lets first wait if they will appoint him, secondly if appointed lets see if he would be winning with games to spare. Rubbish. I really need to investigate who is allowing this parrot out of his cage. Seems is brainwashing them inside the zoo in viena.

  • Papafem 2 years ago

NFF made the sacking of Rohr a huge mistake by appointing Eguaveon. The latter was in no way better. It was a huge mistake removing the German coach so close to a very big competition. But at a point in his time with us, Rohr gave us reasons to be worried, I mean really worried. But we didn’t see the greater worry that would claw at us by bringing in Eguaveon. His sack has triggered series of failures by the appointment of Eguaveon. Its such a very delicate situation for Nigeria. But we should leave all that now and face the reality. Rohr is gone for good. Eguaveon is gone for good. Whether Rohr does well or not in Mali if appointed is none of our business. Our business now is to get a good coach that will maximise the potential in the current team. And that is what I’ve not seen NFF do. Its so pathetic.

  • To buttress your point papafem. It’s very pathetic that our so called NFF or no future failure keep recycling all these mediocre coaches with no substantial or tangible results. I honestly don’t know when the nff will learn from their mistakes. You can’t keep doing the same and expect different results
