“When you see our players, which one of them is playing in a big team?” Rohr said on Brila FM. “We don’t have anymore compared to the big players we had before.

“Where are the Okochas Kanus and the (Vincent) Enyeamas? we don’t have.

“We have young players, have a good team with good spirit but we don’t have the stars which we had before.

“I hope we can go back to that time because now we have young players with future. But our strength is the team and I hope with our strength we can go far.

Don’t mind the coach jare. He must be drunk. What does he mean we don’t have stars anymore…?

We have won 4 AFOTY awards in the last decade like we did in the 90s. 5 of our players have either won the championship league or played in the finals in the last 5 years. Our central defenders are 1st team players for AC Milan and Juve…..our midfielders are balling for Dortmund, Man city and Barca while our strikers are painting the EPL and Bundesliga red with goals. Kanu,Okocha,Taribo,Shorunmu and Oliseh are small boys compared to the calibre of players we have now.

Abeg somebody should pls wake somebody up from his illusion.

Hahahaha…ha. All their plans, all forest dey refuse to hide. Now, only hiding behind a leaf in the forest, not knowing leaf no big enough to cover their yansh. How cynical to come up with such old news. But just to whip up sentiment and another round of attack against a man that has lifted our darling SE to an enviable height. WE ARE NOT FOOLED. Someone supposedly think we are here reading free news,LOL.That only confirms his level of intelligence. Fake news can easily result to another third world war if not expose wether you read it from free paper, from media, or hear during personal conversation. Again we spend money on data to stop the spread of such negative sensitisation/ fake news. So what does such element understand by free news. LMAO…

Just as the algerians team that won the nations cup was filled with super stars playing for man utd, liverpool, Barca, madrid, chelsea, juve…
Just as world cup winner France that won the last world cup had more experienced players and super stars than Croatia,Argentina, Germany and Brazil..
Just as dream team 96 had more super stars than the Argentine and Brazilian teams..
Just as the SE of 94 and 98 had more super stars than the Bulgarian team or the spanish team..
The tune is changing from my young team to super stars..

  • Gernot Rohr, coach of the Super Eagles, does indeed have a point when he said according to the article above that:”We have young players,
; (we) have a good team with good spirit”.

Indeed, one thing is becoming apparent in this Rohr tutored Super Eagles side which is that as a whole, it is greater than the sum of its parts.

Yes, this present Super Eagles team, if compared with say the team of 2000 Afcon, does not have superstar players like Kanu, Ikpeba, Okocha, Oliseh, Taribo West, Babangida, Finidi George or Celestine Babayaro.

Those were Gladiators who almost swept aside all before them!

But, as a unit, Rohr’s Super Eagles is able to hold its own as it did against mighty Brazil and Ukraine recently.

Quoting the German tactician again, he said:”Our strength is the team and I hope with our strength we can go far.”

And they are going far in Fifa rankings.

This time last year, the Super Eagles were ranked 44 by Fifa; fast forward 12 months and we are ranked 31 (a net gain of 13 steps upwards in just 12 months).

If our homebased Super Eagles had done well, then we would have climbed higher in the Fifa rankings and Rohr would have had to share the praise with Amakapabo.

As it stands, his hard work only has been responsible for how high Nigeria has climbed in the Fifa rankings despite failure of the homebased set up.

So, Rohr’s Super Eagles that is devoid of Superstars are doing superb and they can only get better.
