Manchester United will face city rivals Manchester City in the semi-final of this season’s Carabao Cup.
The Carabao Cup draw was held on Wednesday night after the conclusion of the quarter-final games.
To get to the semi-final, City beat third division club Oxford United 3-1 away, thanks to a brace from Raheem Sterling and Joao Cancelo.
And at Old Trafford, Manchester United made light work of division four club Colchester United, winning 3-0.
An own goal from Colchester’s Ryan Jackson and goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, secured United’s place into the Carabao Cup semis.
In their first meeting this season in the Premier League, United beat City 2-1.
And in the other Carabao Cup semi-final pairing, Leicester City were drawn against Aston Villa.
Leicester progressed into the last four after a penalty shootout win against Everton at Goodison Park.
The Foxes raced to a 2-0 first half lead through James Maddison and Johnny Evans, before Tom Davies and Leighton Baines drew Everton level.
While at Villa Park, Aston Villa trounced a very young Liverpool side 5-0.
First leg ties are scheduled to be played in the week commencing 6 January 2020, while the second legs will be played in the week commencing 27 January 2020.
City will be making its third straight qualification into the last four of the Carabao Cup.
For United, the last time they got to the semi-final of the Cup was in the 2016/2017 season.
It is a return to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup for Leicester for the first time since the 1999/2000 campaign.
That season, Leicester went on to become champions after they beat Tranmere Rovers 2-1 in the final.
