Rohr’s 24-man Squad Can Beat Benin, Lesotho- Adepoju Confident Ahead AFCON Qualifiers

Former Nigerian striker, Mutiu Adepoju believes the list of players invited by Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr is good enough to pick the necessary points against Benin and Lesotho in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Recall that on Tuesday, Rohr released a 24-man squad that will face Benin on March 27 and Lesotho on March 30 with notable names such as Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Samuel Chukwueze, Troost Ekong, Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo to mention a few, for the make or mar encounters.

Nigeria are currently top of Group L on 8 points and will be aiming to pick the maximum point against a Benin side that sit second on 7 Points in Porto-Novo.

In a chat with Completesports, the ‘Headmaster’ as he was fondly known during his playing days said that Rohr and the team deserved total support from Nigerians for them to do well in the two games.

He insisted that a few of the players who deserved to be invited but are omitted from the list would get their chances in the subsequent games.

“At this point in time, I don’t think the team needs distraction considering the fact that they need total focus ahead of the two crucial games against Benin and Lesotho.

“The Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has invited a 24-man squad capable of getting the right results against Benin and Lesotho if the right motivation is accorded to them. Yes, there are some players that should have been on this list released by Rohr based on their performance in their respective clubs in Europe but are not on this list.

“However, I am sure the gaffer has taken note of them and will definitely invite them in subsequent games. What we need right now is the total support of Nigerians and the players who have been omitted from the list to pray for the success of the team against Benin and Lesotho.”

God bless to you Adepoju. One of the Ex SE that was the real reason most of the other SE midfielders performed. A midfielder that was like a thread in the needle putting every lose bit together. Admittedly, that seems to be what this present SE hasnt really found yet, albeit it is packed full with quality materials but the thread n needle, yet to be. At one point, I thought Ramon Azeez could. He came but his movement all over the pitch, covering every blade of grass like headmaster just wasnt there. Etebo started off as the perfect one for that but seems like recent injury troubles and other issues may have just slowed him down, same with Azubuike. Hopefully these guys get jazzed up pretty soon whilst in my opinion, suggesting we cast our search light on SOUTHERHAMTON’S NATHAN TELLA.

It’s so shocking how this thread is so deserted. If it were those hungry player agent exinternationals that said their usual crap negatives now, you will see 120 comments of gnashing of teeth by now….LMAO. When respectable people without personal interests speak, you will feel the intelligence and smartness in their views.

What are you expecting people to say?
That the players selected can not do the job?
Nigeria is a great nation full of talents , in fact we can raise 3 national team squad capable of beating Benin and Lesotho respectively.

As for the squad being perfect or our best that’s far from the  reality as there are  legitimate concerns  about the selection.

Most important is the tactics to be deployed that day, anything short of  6 points is unacceptable as it will affect our Fifa Ranking.

This mummy always seeking relevance and always trying to instigate responses that will negate stuff so he can copy and past nonsense and act like he knows it all….keep enjoying in your little bubble. We Sabi people like you. In real life probably a loser. Top 5 league hypocrite.

This mum is always seeking relevance….what do u expect? Want people to come out and condemn him for saying something we all expect?? Now you’re trying too hard to instigate and trigger unnecessary replies but continue to enjoy in your little bubble.

@goal…..so you have not read comments of people wishing the team to be defeated in the matches to proof that Gernot Rohr is unfit for super eagles job…….again you said anything short of six points was unacceptable to YOU….not even BRASIL,SPAIN,ARGENTINA,FRANCE etc. that are greater footballing nations could so boast of winning matches yet to be played…..there is no longer stroll in the park matches nd comments like yours infuriate for traces of animosity…….we need to just qualify for now nd it does not matter if it’s with half a point which was hard to get before GERNOT ROHR came in…….we were unbeating in the last world cup qualifiers but we did not win the world cup in 2018……..lets just qualify first please

mutiu adepoju who is under six foot scored brilliant goals with the head hence was tagged headmaster by mates nd this is missing in our games now but it’s not Rohr’s deficiency…..Onuachu couldn’t fill that void because he waits for service rather than fight for it……while mutiu,a midfielder fought for the ball albeit shorter than Onuachu, the latter stands cluelessly expecting crosses from teammates for 90 minutes or falls with the slightest of touch expecting to be awarded penalty kicks….kanu nwakwo scored goals, assisted nd won us penalties, mutiu adepoju made himself relevant through his headers nd we still miss them……so let onuachu make himself useful to the team
