Ronaldo Makes Europa League Debut, Sadiq Subbed Off As Sociedad End Man United’s Winning Streak

It was the best of debuts in the Europa League for Cristiano Ronaldo as Manchester United lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad in Group E on Thursday night.

United went into the game against Sociedad on the back of four consecutive wins.

It is a first home loss in the Europa League for United since 2016.

Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq was in action for Sociedad but was replaced before the start of the second half.

Former Real Madrid star Casemiro, Ronaldo, Antony, Harry Maguire made the starting eleven for United.

After a goalless first half Sociedad got the only goal of the game on 59 minutes thanks to Brais Mendez, who converted from the penalty spot after Lisandro Martinez was adjudged to have stopped a shot with his hand.

Also in Group E Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was benched for his Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia who fell 3-0 at home to FC Sheriff.

And other results saw Lazio beat Feyenoord 4-2, Sturm Graz recorded a 1-0 win against Midtjylland, Freiburg edged Qarabag 2-1, Moses Simon’s Nantes overcame Olympiacos 2-1 and Trabzonspor lost 3-2 to Ferencvaros.

    Two Nigerian Atiemwen and another scored for their club they won 3 nil.
    Sadiq was caged I wasn’t really impressed.
    I hope he improve his game because this is the kind of match to get you global headlines.
