Ronaldo Marks Return With Brace, Equals EPL Goal Record As Man United Thrash Newcastle 

Cristiano Ronaldo marked his return to Manchester United with a brace as the Red Devils hammered Newcastle United 4-1, at Old Trafford in Saturday’s Premier League fixture.

Ronaldo at 36 year and 218 days is the oldest player to score a brace in a Premier League match since Graham Alexander for Burnley against Hull in April 2010 (38 years, 182 days). 

After a tight early exchange, Ronaldo finally broke the deadlock two minutes into first half added time a tap-in from close range.

In the 56 minute, Newcastle United equalised thanks to Javier Manquillo who drove in a low strike from an angle.

United were back in front on 62 minutes as Ronaldo got his second, racing through on to Luke Shaw’s through ball and fired home with a low finish.

With 10 minutes left in the game Bruno Fernandes made it 3-1 to United as his strike flew into the top corner.

And in the 92nd minute Jesse Lingard put the icing on the cake with a smart finish from inside the area.

The win means United are top in the league table on 10 points after four games played.

At the King Power stadium, Nigerian trio Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho and new signing Ademola Lookman all featured for Leicester who lost 1-0 to Manchester City.

Ndidi saw 90 minutes of football while Iheanacho and Lookman both came on in the 73rd minute.

The only goal of the game was scored on 62 minutes as Bernardo Silva pounced on a blocked shot and slot the ball home.

City occupy second position on nine points behind rivals United with Leicester in ninth place on six points.

And at the Emirates, Arsenal got their first goal and first win of the season thanks to a hardfought 1-0 win against Norwich City.

 Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got the only goal on 66 minutes after he bundling in from close range after the ball rebounded off the post.

The win took Arsenal off the bottom of the log to 16th position while Norwich are 20th after losing their fourth consecutive game.

In other results, Frank Onyeka returned to Brentford side, coming on in the 75th minute their 1-0 home loss to Brighton, William Troost-Ekong, Oghenekaro Etebo and Emmanuel Dennis featured in Watford’s 2-0 loss to visiting Wolves, and West Ham held Southampton to a 0-0 draw away.
