England skipper Joe Root admitted he was ‘gutted’ with the news that Olly Stone has had his West Indies tour cut short by injury.
The England paceman has returned home and will undergo further tests on the injury which is said to be a bone stress injury to his lower back.
It is another setback for the 25-year-old who has been plagued with injury problems in his short career so far but for whom big things are expected over the next few years.

“I’m gutted for him as he’s worked extremely hard to get in this squad,” Root said. “He did some really good work in Sri Lanka to push his case really hard.
“He was doing exactly the same here so it is a massive blow for him personally and for the team as well. I’m sure we will see plenty more of him in the future.”
