Almeria forward Umar Sadiq insists the club’s promotion to LaLiga from the Segunda Division is more important to him than his goals, Completesports.com reports.
Sadiq has scored 18 goals in 33 league appearances for Almeria this season.
Joan Francesc’s side occupy third position on the table with 63 points from 37 games .
“Individually, I am satisfied with the number of goals I have achieved but in reality, the most important thing for me, the primary objective is promotion to First Division.
“And we are going to fight for it even through the playoffs.” On the possibility of finishing as the top scorer in the Spanish Second Division, he said that is secondary.
“I do not continuously look at the Pichichi data, it would be good to achieve it but what I focus the most on is not so much in scoring but in the team doing it.
“I like to give assists and score points for the team. If I succeed and help the team reach its goal, I would be very happy with it,” the former Roma forward said.
Sadiq became Almeria’s all-time top scorer after netting a brace in a 2-2 La Liga SmartBank draw with Real Oviedo at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos on Saturday.
