Sadiq Is A Replica Of Yekini –Adepoju

Former Nigerian midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju believes Super Eagles striker, Umar Sadiq has what it takes to catch up with late Rashidi Yekini.

Adepoju stated this in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, where he lauded the ability of Sadiq to adapt so quickly with Real Sociedad.

Recall that the former Almeria striker netted his first goal for Real Sociedad at the weekend.

The former Nigeria international is delighted to see his compatriot do well at his former club and likened him to former Super Eagles striker and the country’s all-time top scorer, Yekini.

“No, I have never spoken to him; but I follow him, I watch all his games and he seems like a great player, he can give more,” Adepoju told Mundo Deportivo.

“He reminds me of another Nigerian we had, Rashidi Yekini, who we used to call ‘gangling’. I think Sadiq is young and can catch up with Yekini.

“He has a goal, quality, height and runs more or less like him.”

Sadiq scored 43 goals in over 80 appearances for Almeria before switching to Real Sociedad.

I respected Adepoju much more than this but this comparison he made in this article is utter rubbish. How can you spew such rubbish from your mouth bro?

Well said Doctorman. It is rubbish to compare Umar with Yekini.

  • Sodiq is just like yekini in his built and stature……he also has the cunning goal sense of kanu…..am so excited about sodiq this season because he is so inform right now and he was designed for the Spanish La Liga…… Sodiq Umar deserves all the praises and hyping he is getting at the moment…..He is practically unplayable and even The legendary Diego Simone acknowledged his talent when Atletico Madrid tasted his presence…… Sodiq has pace and skill…..he has an overwhelming presence in the box 18 and mehn he smells danger and arrives where the danger is at the right time…..With David Silva playing behind Sodiq I expect bomb from sociadad because Silva loves strikers who can sense his mind……they both combined so well in the last match and it almost resulted in a goal in 2 occasion…..am loving this.

  • He’s a bit more skillful than Yekini but Yekini was faster, quicker and deadlier.

    • I will take you comment with a pinch of salt and in all honesty its a little harsh as you are saying a Striker is deadlier based on your summary of his entire career. Sadiq has not even hit his prime yet, so i would say your judgement is a little hasty.

sadiq is undoubtedly one of the best Nigerian strikers in Europe currently.
However,it’s not a crime to compare him with Yekini.
