Umar Sadiq scored two goals as Almeria defeated Mirandes 2-1 in the Spanish second division on Sunday night and give their promotion hopes a boost.
The win saw Almeria move up to second place (one of the two automatic promotion slot) on 55 points just a point behind leaders Eibar in the league table.
Sadiq opened scoring in the 69th minute before doubling their lead in the 72nd minute.
He was later replaced with seven minutes left in the game.
Sergio Camello pulled a goal back for Mirandes with nine minutes into added time in the second half.
Following his brace against Mirandes Sadiq has now taken his tally to 12 goals after 23 games in the second division.

That’s good.
keep it up.
He showed against Tunisia that he is far better than Awoyini. If he settles down we’ll and blends with the midfielders fans will enjoy him. He may in a second tier in Spain but that doesn’t limit his talents. I learnt Barcelona is trailing him .If he keeps his low and consistent I see him making that big move to a big club that will definitely put Osihmen under serious pressure and competition for SE number 1 top striker
This guy is good, men. Sadiq was utilised wrongly by Eguavoen in the Afcon, that is why it looks like he wasn’t a good player.
He has to start against Ghana.
How was he utilized wrongly?
Did Eguaveon tell him to miss one-on-one chances???
You no go ever forget that 1 to 1 chance John – I. I bet it haunts you in your sleep. Lolzzzz…… Just kidding bro. One love.
Let him go to bigger club and face tougher defenders
Absolutely @Chibuike.Playing against quality elite defenders will improve his all round play and will also improve his international performances.
So far he has done well, regardless how his team finishes I believe he will play in the first division next season.
No division club is easy at all in Europe and that’s the more reason we have to applaude to Sadiq Umar for scoring consistently in his club Almeria and in no time to come, they will be going for La-Liga.Hey! bro Sadiq,I wish you all the best…
I think we need to be patient with this guy. He appears to be one of those players with a fragile confidence. With proper man management, i think we would get the best out of him.
Well done to him, that is his 12th goal if I am not mistaken.
BIG NUMBER 9 DOES IT AGAIN, WELDONE! SUPER EAGLES TEAM IS THERE FOR YOU.
To score 12 goals for second division for Spain no be Beans oo,we need to be patient with him. The guy is good, but during the AFCON he made to many errors while trying to impress.
@ Dr drey that’s your boy!!! What will later works for Sadiq in the SE is uniqueness. His style of play is different from all other strikers we currently have.
The competition for places in the attacking third will be very healthy. Sadiq didn’t do badly at the AFCON in my opinion. From the little I saw of him I think he’s a better option to Onuachu in the pecking order.
He’s more skillful and daring than Onuachu. Both he and Awoniyi show they can be viable options to choose from going forward. The occasion just seems a little bigger than then being their first major senior tournament with the SuperEagles.
I don’t think we have any issues in our attack with Osimhen, Dennis and Ighalo coming back. My main concern is the midfield. Aribo is in great form and a terrific talent, but seems to be often played out of position with the National team.
I heard in some quarters that Olise is considering Nigeria after the playoffs. It doesn’t matter to me we surely need that boy in the SuperEagles. And Amoo must be integrated asap. We need more ball playing midfielders in this team to reach the next level of an AFCON triumph and great showing at the WorldCup.
Gbam! Well said Ayphillythebest. There is on one like you on this platform. Proper oil dey your head. No wonder you dey drill oil for ground. Lolzzzz.
Joking apart, great comments above bro.

Heaven bless you Jimmy. You be correct guy. I will watch it shortly. Thanks bro.
Agreed that Aribo did well at the Afcon. However, I think we have players that can compete with him.
Someone like Amoo for instance. Amoo brings more aggression and goal threat on a good day.
Amoo is willing and able to drive forward with the ball. His stocky physique and low center of gravity give him a distinct advantage. He is a great outlet for counter attacks, and his skill and pace can be a huge problem for most defenders.
Aribo is a bit slow, but that does not have to be a big minus. Kanu was slow and languid too, but that didn’t stop him from inflicting huge damage to opponents. I just feel Aribo is just not the player for Nigeria that he is at the Ibrox. And for a huge game like the one coming up against Ghana, we need AMs that can hurt the famously solid Ghana defense.
Aribo needs to put himself about more in games. Be more energetic. Take shots at goal. Make through passes. Make runs in and around the box. Even if you can’t dribble like Jay Jay (most people can’t anyway), doing these things makes you more dangerous to the opponent.
We need competition in all areas of the pitch, especially the AM position. Getting Amoo, Olise, Ejaria and Eze in there will spice things up very nicely for us. Amoo is there for the taking. The rest are possibles.
Obviously, the more options we have available, the better. Let’s start by getting Amoo in there asap!
