Salah Not Worthy To Win Ballon d’Or Award -Alisson

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson believes Mohamed Salah is not his favourite to win the Ballon d’Or.

Salah, 29, was included on the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or in early October and he is among the favourites for the award after another record-breaking year at Anfield.

“For sure. He’s deserving yes, for what he’s been showing,” Alisson told TNT Sports of Reds teammate Salah. “Not only this season, he’s a very constant player.

“I believe that the Ballon d’Or votes counts with the other seasons as well. But it gets very difficult, there are a lot of players who deserve it.

“If we talk about deserving, there are many players… for example, Lewandowski, who’s a guy who’s been doing absurd things in recent seasons, breaking records.

“Salah too, breaking records. And other players out there with a lot of class winning titles. For sure, anyone who comes out a winner will be deserving.”

Alisson – the winner of the 2019 Yashin Trophy as the world’s best goalkeeper – also hailed his teammate’s selflessness, adding: “Salah is a guy who works a lot.

“A guy who works not only for him, but who works for the team as well. A guy who takes care of himself, a great professional.

“He’s certainly deserving [of the Ballon d’Or], yes. I’ll definitely be very happy if he wins an award like this, because he is really someone who works really hard and helps us a lot. So surely he’s deserving.”

CSN….Please kindly point out where in this article, Mr Alisson Bekker stated that Salah is “NOT WORTHY” to win the ballor d’or according to your headline….???

In the very last quote of the article, Alisson state equivocally that “….He’s certainly deserving [of the Ballon d’Or], yes. I’ll definitely be very happy if he wins an award like this, because he is really someone who works really hard and helps us a lot. So surely he’s deserving….”

This certainly is not the CSN we used to know. Professionalism seems to have suffered a plane crash in CSN’s stables.

      It’s astonishing.
CSN, come on guys. You can do better than this.

      • Astonishing ya foot. That guy is uncouthly zero, nothing upstairs. Read him again. I am an avid supporter of Salah for the Ballon d’Or but what’s the place of insults?

Your comment is devoid of sense. It would appear that you are also UNCOUTHLY ZERO, as you put it.

Thank you my brother, when I pointed this out the other day (how CSN’s quality of reportage has so much dropped), some folks here insulated me and called me all manners of names.

Anyways, I guess that’s the new normal for CSN now.

Let’s not allow sentiment becloud our sense of reasoning. Lewandowski is almost certain to win the award. The Bayern Munich and Poland marksman who has been banging in goals is highly rated and favoured. He was worthy of winning the last edition after hitting 55 goals as Bayern Munich won a treble then.

Allison, the votes do count with other sessions, this got me thinking. I hope Allison is using the lengthening odds to arrive at his conclusion.

While Mo Salah’s wonderful performance this season for Liverpool has seen him shoot up the leaderboard into third favourite with the odds at 8/1, Robert lewandowski best priced at 8/11, overtaking Messi who is only available at 7/1 remains the highest on the pecking, meaning Lewandowski is favourite to win the award.

We all know it is a team sport where an individual dominates the game, the award has often been used as a way of accessing which player is the very best in the world at any given time.

Since October when the 30-player shortlist for the award was announced, tongues have been left wagging, I will not be surprised to have PSG goal tender joining the fray; is it going to be Messi, Robert, Joghino, Mbappe or Salah? The fact still remains that ever since its commencement, it has been the most famous individual award in football. It is worth all the efforts it brings.

Lewandowski and Salah are both worthy candidates for the Ballon D’or. Their performance this season speaks for them.
Alisson never insinuated that Salah is not worthy of the prize.
He only had words of praise and admiration for the guy. So this headline does not match the contents of the article.
