Salah Offers Update On Future

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has reaffirmed his commitment to the club after being linked with a switch away. Despite being in outstanding form for the duration of his stay on Merseyside so far, reports were linking the Egyptian with a move away from Anfield this summer, with Barcelona and Real Madrid the two clubs thought to be interested.

No exact fee had been mentioned but it is understood it would have been close to a world-record fee to prise the 27-year-old away from Liverpool. However, it appears that Reds’ fans need not worry about the prospect of their star man leaving for pastures new, as the player himself says he is very content with life in the Premier League. “I’m happy at Liverpool,” Salah told CNN. “I’m happy in the city – I love the fans and they love me. “I’m happy at the club.”

Salah has been an unequivocal success since making a £40million move from Roma two years ago.
In his first season at the club, he broke all sorts of records, scoring the most amount of goals in a debut season with 44 and winning seven Liverpool Player of the Month awards.

He was the Golden Boot winner for the 2017-18 campaign and repeated that feat last year, despite many saying his season was not as good as his debut year. This time around, he has got out of the blocks quickly, after scoring the second goal in Liverpool’s 4-1 beating of Norwich on the opening weekend.

This was in spite of his involvement with Egypt in this summer’s Africa Cup of Nations, although he did not play much as was originally expected after the hosts were knocked out by South Africa in the round of 16 stage.
In the same interview, Salah criticised the handling of the tournament from the Egyptian FA, saying it dampened the experience.

“When we had one day off, I couldn’t go down from the room until 9:30 p.m.,” Salah added. “When I tried to go down it was like 200 people with me. And they (EFA) say, ‘Why are you complaining?’ “I complain because I’m a human being. I want to be with the players. I want to sit down and enjoy my life. We are a team, we love each other, as players we want to play something.”

Salah’s next involvement is likely to be on Saturday as they take on Arsenal at Anfield – with the Gunners also having won both of their opening fixtures so far this season.

Ighalo is a better player than Salah any day in African football.
