What’s the problem with Musa and this people. Don’t they have eyes to see that Musa has paid his dues, and it’s time to bid him farewell?

  • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

What is Musa and Shehu doing there for christ sake?….This is a new phase to test out players why for christ sake.

    • Papafem 2 years ago

No matter how hard we cry, they will always keep a place for these northern guys. But truth be told only Sadiq deserves to be in the SE as things are now. They will always invite Musa as long as we’ve the likes of Dikko and Fresh in the NFF. We should also remember that the list was prepared by Salisu, another northerner. It will only take a call from Musa to Salisu and a promise of a few dollars to get a nationalal team invite. Even if Yusuf is reluctant, which I so much doubt, Musa has got people up there to press the right buttons for him. Musa will be in the national team as long as he wants. Maybe if a foreign coach comes with his own bag of stubbornness and ego, Musa can be excused. But in the current set up, no one has that liver. Let’s just deal with it.

  • footballfanatic 2 years ago

Musa himself is a greedy individual trying to secure as much caps as possible at the expense of the national team. If he had any respect for himself he would have quit after the game against Ghana but he will see himself become a villain watch.

No victor oshimen, akpoguma, bonke, and iheancho.. there are new players doing well this season I was thinking this new coaches will bring in. Players like, aremu , agu Felix both in German second division. Amos of QPR.. what is all these strange Hausa names are we seeing here.. why invite based on tribe.. this is why foreign coaches are better.. so disappointed

WE CAN ALL SEE THE REASON WHY NIGERIAN ARE CLAMOURING FOR FOREIGN COACH FOR SUPER EAGLE.
THERE IS NO HOW YOU WILL NOT SEE THE TRACES OF SENTIMENT FROM OUR LOCAL COACHES WHEN THEY PRESENT/SUBMIT THEIR LIST FOR SQUAD.
**THE INVITATION OF AHMED MUSA IS BLOCKING THE CHANCES OF OTHER GOOD PLAYERS. SINCE PAST THREE YEARS, MUSA HAS NOT BEEN RELEVANT AGAIN. ANY PLAYERS THAT CAN’T DO THE TALKING/ACTION ON THE PITCH OR HAS NOTHING TO CONTRIBUTE ON THE FIELD OF PLAY SHOULD NOT BE INVITED TO SUPER EAGLE AGAIN.
** In U.S.A’94: ROGER MILLA, KESHI, VANDERRAMA, FRANCO BARESI, ALL DO THE TALKING ON THE FIELD OF PLAY IN RESPECTIVE OF THEIR AGE. AHMED MUSA HAS NOTHING TO CONTRIBUTE ON THE FIELD AGAIN. WE DON’T NEED HIS ADVICE,WE DON’T NEED HIS MENTOR, WE DON’T NEED HIS ENCOURAGEMENT. HE SHOULD RETIRE/QUIT. IGHALO, SHEHU, AKPEI SHOULD ALSO FOLLOW RETIRE.

  • To me, this list is a mixed bag. I have no problem with inviting a few home-based players like Victor Mbaoma of Enyimba who have done very well this season but inviting eight of them is a bit much. I believe we should move on from players like Ahmed Musa, Leon Balogun and Shehu Abdullahi. Oghenekaro Etebo should not have been on this list as he haven’t played much this season. Conversely, players like Onyedika Nwadike, Tosin Kehinde and Igoh Ogbu should have been given a chance. These exhibition matches should have been an opportunity to give lots of new players a chance. Seems to me like Coach Salisu is trying to use the upcoming matches to build his CHAN team.

  • This man is big MUMU useless coach
Our defender in Orlando Pirates South Africa you forgotten about him
    Olisa NDA ??????

  • Ololo 2 years ago

The few postives in this list for me is dropping Kenneth omerue, he has been chopping bench in a second division team for that matter.. but what did akpoguma do to this team. I was surprised not to see ozorwafor who plays in Belgium league. That boy should be invited. There is an excellent defender in Rotherham named ihekwu, he is the best defenders in league1 ,a formal defensive pair with Ajayi. His team got promoted to the English championship, we better rush that man.

In the midfield he brought azubiuke, very good addition, since ndidi will not the ready till like another 2 months, we also have Yusuf, who is playing week in week out in Belgium..,

Congratulations to deseer, but what is musa still doing in this team.. so sad Issac success got injured , he should have been in this team.. is oshimen punished for his comment against ikpeba.. we don’t need all this drama

    • Ignatius Abo 2 years ago

Maybe Osimhen is punished for poor decision making. His bicycle kicks were just bad against Ghana.

      • Greenturf 2 years ago

But he was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch for the Nigerian side.If his decisions were poor like you highlighted, the coaches should have subbed him off for a more experienced Ighalo who wouldn’t do a needless overhead kick.
Apparently,in my opinion because he always had two defenders on him breath down his neck, the bicycle kicks were the best decision because should he try chesting and controlling the defenders would close up on him quickly and stop the imminent danger,I think Osimhen did the overhead kicks to catch them unawares which was the best decision in a situation where you have just little space.

  • seriously !!nigeria have serious problem why amed musa?he himself no even get shame,he said he will retire after world cup but we did not make what is problem and COACHES???

    • Goal Keepers
      *Adewale Adeyinka
      *Olorunleke Ojo
Does this means, Uzoho, Adeleye are finally out of the team for good? Ike Shorunmu (not Alloy Agu this time), Over to you.
      Defenders
      *Evergreen bench warmer, Abdullahi Shehu
      *Isa Ali
      *Ibrahim Buari
Hmmm…Tyronne Ebuehi, Kelvin Akpoguma..it’s like we’ve seen the end of this duo already.
      Midfielders
      *Chiamaka Madu
      *Ogenekaro Etebo (comma)
      *Afeez Nosiru
      *Azubuike Okechukwu (Thumb up)
      *Samson Tijani (good)
      *Alhassan Yusuf (Thumb up)
Good development, we really need new faces in this roles because of Indidi injuries..still, no sound offensive midfielder and with these new faces, Shehu Abdullahi supposed to be out of the list.
      Forwards
      *Ahmed Musa
      *Victor Mbaoma
      *Ishaq Rafiu.
Hmm…Ahmed Musa to me is too selfish. If a player like Victor Moses, Mikel Obi can stay out of the team and stood by it, I see no reason why Musa can’t do the same. I hope his stays won’t end in shame at the end.

      • Greenturf 2 years ago

Samson Tijani hardly makes the bench of Salzburg neither does Azubuike Okechukwu for his Turkish team, based on this factor it’s a weird decision by the coaches whereas the likes of Onyedika voted the third best midfielder in Denmark wasn’t called up,I wonder the criteria Yusuf and his assistants used in inviting this players.
        Strange decision indeed!

        • Hmm…about that Onyedika, you are very right. He deserves it more than those two.

  • Greenturf 2 years ago

I am a fan of Yusuf but his list is disappointing,I do not expect Musa,Shehu and all this home based players to be part of our new team.I can understand in the goalkeepers department where we are struggling.
Oghenekaro Etebo has played very little football and not in form his spot should have gone to a fresh player the likes of Onyedika and a few others who have done well this season.
You see why I kept clamouring for a foreign technical adviser,I don’t trust this indigenous coaches with too much sentiments. The local players should walk there way to the super eagles through Chan>Europe>Super eagles.
I bet you we may not qualify for the Afcon should we continue with this local coaches. The delay in appointing a foreign coach could lead to a disaster because this local coaches could drop points in our next couple of games before the foreign coach is announced a situation that the new coach may not salvage we have faced this situations in the past,Siasia could not lift the team or we could face a situation where the coaches does well in our June playoffs and the football authorities and sports ministry decides they should carry on just like the case of Eguavoen and lose grounds in the next games and fail to qualify for the Afcon next year we never learn.
Meanwhile,Ahmed Musa is a very selfish individual I’m sure he is generous to the coaches because he’s naturally kind and this invitations are the coaches gratitude or appreciation to his kind gestures.
Another factor could be the quota system, perhaps the presidency could be behind the invitation of Musa and Shehu through the sports ministry, this politics in football can only inhibit or restrain our growth.

    • Mahmud Shuaib 2 years ago

You keep SHOUTING foreign coaches all the time as if your GERNOT ROHR fared better too uanq his invitations.

Did he not persist with the following to the detriment and chagrin of all and sundry???:.

      AHMED MUSA
      ODION IGHALO
      ABDULLAH SHEHU
      KENNETH OMERUO
      AKPEYI
      JOHN NOBLE
      COLLINS

      Abegiiii….

It’s obvious that some of these players are products of interference from above which we may not be able to do much about even if we hire PEP GUARDIOLA..At worst, he will throw in the towel if he can’t PLAY BALL.

Whether we want to admit it or not, our REGION (the North, will always have it’s fair share of tinvites unless we do not have any high profile footballer anywhere in Europe. That is is the fact with AHMED MUSA and ABDULLAH SHEHU. Even SADIQ in second division being considered ahead of AWONIYI (a player I must admit I like a lot) a Bundesliga player, is due to above.

@POMPEI…as usual you didn’t disappoint in your well ARTICULATED response to that MENTALLY DERANGED boy called TRISTAN!

May be the following are foreigners:

      1. ALIKI DANGOTE

      5. MODUPE ALAKIJA
      7. BELLO AKEEM OSAGIE
      8. COSMAS MADUKA
      9. INNOCENT MADUKA

Mumu children suffering inferiority complex up and down

      • @Mahmud Shuaib, so well presented! Under whose time as national team coach was John Noble consistently invited to camp even when he was sitting on the bench at Enyimba? During his tenure, was Kevin Akpoguma not brought in unannounced and shoved down our throats, ultimately costing us dearly in the match against Sierra Leone? Their revered coach watched helplessly from the bench as a four-goal lead was blown at home. Had it been a home-grown coach, some of these people here would have demanded, he be fired the next day. Instead, they blamed it on Mr. Pinnick, training with the team a few days to the match. Nigerians are really good at hating their own people. For those of you that believe that Nigeria’s redemption will come from humans of a different skin-pigmentation, you are sadly mistaken. Look at what is happening in Eastern Europe currently and wise up.

  • I am seriously not impressed with this list, where is Osimhen and Iheanacho on the list? Salisu just dey pack him kings men put for this list. Nigeria we hail thee. Abeg when are employing a foreign coach again? they need to do that fast. this is why i dey vex for Nigerian coaches.

    A total of 8 home-based players: 2 goalies, 2 defenders, 2 midfielders, and 2 forwards.
The big area for me is the goalie department. I’m hoping the home-based goalies really step up and grab this chance.
Nice to see NIGERIA’S MOST WANTED Cyriel Dessers, Zubby Okechukwu, Alhassan Yusuf and Samson Tijani in the list.
Osimhen was likely excluded to give Dessers and Sadiq a chance to stake their claim. On a good day, Osimhen remains one of our best forwards.
Also would have loved to see Ejuke in there. Used properly, that boy is a weapon.
For Aribo, he should be used as an AM, a support striker, or on the wings.
We need updates on the hiring process for the new coach. A good coach that can select the best players we have worldwide and harness their talents. Once that is accomplished, we would have scaled a significant hurdle.

    • Greenturf 2 years ago

      Well said @pompei

    • Golden Child 2 years ago

@pompei, on osimhen , that might be plausible but I personally think he is being disciplined for his utterances on ikpeba and rightly so if you ask me. The boy needs to eat humble pie. Most of the attacking players were maintained except him. In fact most of the regulars were maintained except him and if it is true that he was left out for disciplinary reasons then kudos to the NFF. We simply should not condone that level of indiscipline. It might be the NFF president next.

I just hope Dessers excels in these 2 test games, Osimhen will seat up. If you can not listen to a one time African footballer of the year, Olympic gold medallist , afcon winner, afcon silver medallist then I wonder who he would listen to.

      • Ignatius Abo 2 years ago

Osimhen was very rude. He should be disciplined. It is good to see Iwobi back. His recent hard work is paying off. We advised him and he listened. Heaven bless Iwobi and all deserving Super Eagles players.

      • pompei 2 years ago

I agree with you, Golden Child.
Osimhen’s response to Ikpeba was highly unbecoming. If he is being disciplined, he deserves it.
However, Yorubas say if you use one hand to beat a child, you use the other hand to draw the child to your bossom.
We should discipline Osimhen, but not to the point of killing him.
After all, he is one of our own, and he is one of our best, more importantly.

Guys these Abokis are not stupid, they will throw  in some names we like and slot in seven useless Aboki players with style in return. Musa has chosen  women over eagles let the man go and enjoy his wives, u can’t ve three wives and still be relevant as a soccer player

  • Golden Child 2 years ago

It is well! The story of Nigeria where the best are overlooked and mediocrity is celebrated . We see this in governance too, our Achilles heels has always been our sentimental way of thinking.

How in the world is Adeleye not invited? Surely this is a good opportunity to try him. Why have opted for the journey of 40 years in the wilderness when we could have achieved same in 40 days? It is just mind boggling! Especially bearing in mind, that this is a dept that caused us several times.

We would most likely continue with maduka for the qualifiers and I just know disaster awaits. On the flip side, I hope the home based gk impress but i strongly doubt it. I see the hand writing of that clueless Technical Director at work here. He was the one who spoke of alhassan Yusuf and has sinced changed instance on dessers. To thy tent o Israel.

THIS LIST IS A DISASTER !

  • South 2 years ago

This k. akpoguma should at least be given time to be with the team. He is not that bad not to get a call up. If balogun and ekong are still getting despite them struggling in their clubs, it’s unfair cos all players should be treated equally!.

Another player is, T. Awoniyi, he should also be around too..

since they know best lets see the outcome.

Lastly, both Musa and shehu were to be excluded. And if they’re being tribalistic with their inclusion it won’t end well with them! Becos football is like a life support to many Nigerians, that means they’re toying with the people’s happiness.

Let’s just hope for the best! Shalom

Musa will not go until he destroys his name by conceding an own goal or gets a red card. What has he contributed to the Eagles except goals against Argentina and Iceland. This guy was a bench warmer on 2013 where home based Mba benched him.

  • Mr. Nice 2 years ago

Just as predicted, they were going to delay the announcement of the new coach so that their stooges can be used to prepare a list that will favour them. How do you want a coach to work with a list he didn’t prepare or approve, why do we always move fast in the reverse direction in this country? Obviously, they know a foreign coach can’t be ordered around or forced to work with certain players. I just tire for this country o jare!

Hahahahhaahahahah @GOLDEN CHIOD my man, who will easily forget that eccentric COLUMBIA GK; RENE HIGUITA against ROGER MILLA at Italy 90? A second round encounter for that matter and with scores evenly poised at 1-1.

I salute his courage, though that was idiotic and unnecessary. But that is the mwn who kept getting ignored in favour of a bench warming JOHN NOBLE during GERNOT ROHR and EGUAPALACEDIOLA era!

At least someone has the balls to call him and the impressive AKWA UNITED Goalie. Nwabili losing out may not be unconnected with his team’s current position on the league table.

It’s better than inviting DANIEL APKEYI and UZOHO who will at the end of the day sit on the bench anyway.

@TONY, thanks for the acknowledgment bro!

      • Golden Child 2 years ago

@Mahmud Shuaib, the howler aside, I see some potential in this goal keeper. unfortunarely, I can’t state same for Adeyinka. Adeleye should have been invited.

Where are all the people who champion local coaches? Have your eyes opened! Ahmad Musa, a man at 30 years with 3 wives who only comes on as a 5-minute substitute.
Nigeria likes to frustrate, but I’m not frustrated by Salisu Yusuf. He should continue as coach to the next world cup and if he likes appoint 80 year old Buhari as his striker.
Let these clowns take Nigeria’s Super Eagles to the depth of mediocrity, only then will we learn.
Wait till you face Sierra Leone with these clown car mechanics, you will learn that African football has changed. Sierra Leone has diaspora players that can match a poorly coached Super Eagles.

Those fools calling for local coaches, when, where, and in what industry has any Nigerian organised an effective management team? Nigerian Airways they drove into the ground, 3 refineries they destroyed, Ajaokuta cannot produce anything…, innumerable FG industries managed by Nigerians are bankrupt.
And you say you want Nigerian management for the Super Eagles, the only globally competitive sports team that we have. Well done, please continue! In fact, Salisu Yusuf for President!

How many Times will they tell you that Naija National Football Teams are Finished? The List SHOCK You?

  • Omo9ja 2 years ago

Am not satisfied with this list. I am not surprised at all because Salisu Yusuf is in charge of the Super Eagles, what do you expect? Nepotism.

Goalkeeping department, what did Adebayo Adeleye, Osagwe and Nwabali do to these local coaches?

Musa again? Am highly disappointed in Musa for accepting this invitation. This is selfishness.

What is Shehu Abdullah still doing in the Super Eagles? Wonder shall never end.

The two players I am so happy for are Dessers and Azubuike Okechukwu. Azubuike and Etobo were part of Siasia under 23 team that won a trophy in Senegal against Cisse team then I think and the combinations of Azubuike and Etobo were fanterbulous in that tournament.

But Etobo is not playing regularly currently but what is his name doing on the list when we have Nwobodo the rock?

Am not a coach but I can do more than what Salisu Yusuf did on this list.

For Osimhen, I think his comment against Ikpeba is the reason why his name was omitted on the list. Also, our regular players are not needed for these two friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador. Based on Osimhen form, his name deserves to be on the list and at the same time, we are Nigerians, we have home training and Osimhen should be punished for his comment.

Mexico and Ecuador friendlies should be for the irregular players such as Dessers, Dennis, Adeleye, Osagwe, Bassey, Nwobodo, Azubuike, Nwabali and so on with the few regular players but nepotism won’t let the coaches of the Super Eagles to do their job.

Don’t ask why Nigeria as a nation is struggling like this, this list is an example of Nigeria situation. Nigeria as a nation may not achieve its dreams if the people in power do not change their orientations.

Am happy for Azubuike and Dessers.

Now, I will try my best again to ask whoever in charge of the Super Eagles to invite Nwabali, Nwobodo, Adeleye, Osagwe and Ęjaria. We have the players to do the job the coaches and NFF are the enemies of the Super Eagles. We have to do the talking if we must have the best in charge of our sports.

Amaju and his colleagues have rendered Super Eagles useless. Salisu Yusuf have no business in the Super Eagles.

Can’t wait to see the new foriegn coach or new set of our own that are honest to invite players on merit/new NFF members. The current NFF have failed. Congratulations to Azubuike and Dessers. God bless Nigeria!!!

MUSA AND SHEHU SHOULD RETIRE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A FORWARD 3 COMPRISING OF DENNIS, DESSERS (sadiq) AND LOOKMAN WITH IWOBI, ARIBO AND ALHASSAN IN MIDFIELD, AND A BACK FOUR OF ZAIDU, BASSEY, LEON AND AINA. GK WILL BE MR OKOYE. “Those fools calling for local coaches, when, where, and in what industry has any Nigerian organised an effective management team?” – Tristan.

Tristan, while I share your frustration up to a point, YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN with the blanket notion that Nigerians are ad-infinitum incapable of management, as portrayed in your above quote. That’s a blatant fallacy (hasty generalization).
Several Nigerians own and run huge business enterprises. that’s a fact.
In football, we’ve had successful local coaches in the past. Keshi won us the Afcon in 2013. Amodu Shuaibu qualified us for 2 world cups, though he was not allowed to take us there on both occasions.
My point is we are not rejecting local coaches BECAUSE THEY ARE NIGERIANS.
NOT AT ALL. Let this be very clear.
We are rejecting them because we want the best quality coaching for the SE, and our current local coaches have not DEMONSTRATED THE REQUISITE COMPETENCE for the task yet. When they do, they will be in demand once again. It is up to them to rise to the challenge, and develop themselves.
The Nigerian problem is not/never a lack of capable people. It’s always been the problem of SQUARE PEGS IN ROUND HOLES. Put the right people in the right positions, and there will be an uptick in productivity.

  • Since Salisu and co have decided not to hide their foolishness. we will see the outcome in the two friendlies. It’s just a matter of few weeks.

I won’t even bother myself to watch the two games as I already know the results.

  • That name BUHARI on the list has already spelt doom for the SE, i am not expecting anything from them, i will not boarder to watch any of the matches

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH!! I said it Nigeria will self distruct in a World Cup year it is our way. It is like these Northers are Faliure Driven they thrive on it!!!, We are oppressed in this country… What is the point in all this madness?? only time will tell. LOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!..

If Any Nigeria has seen the recent list by Nigeria it is a big cause for concern. It shows that Quota system and pushing Ethnicity is more important to Nigerians than success as a collective, it shows that the recent embarrassment dealt upon us by Ghana is not enough for the NFF and Naija Government to change their ways and let Merit prevail in all facets of this Country I mean how can you include a bench warmer in Cyprus like Shehu over Akpoguma a regular in Hamburg SV Germany, how can Awoniyi not make the list over some player like Ishaq Rafiu of Rivers United.. How can Victor Moses be overlooked for Ahmed Musa again when Musa is finished.. Why is Osimhen not there. Instead of Nigeria to go there and try to redeem face by taking the strongest squad to show the world we can Compete still we are doing 5 Hausa 5 Igbo 5 Yoruba and so forth. when I say this country is finished people think I am joking. On the Other Ghana have used this opportunity to strengthen and bring in Big players like Nketiah and Odoi wheather Nigeria like it or not Ghana is surpassing us now with what is going on thier camp as opposed to Nigeria Cam
