Sarri Completes Juventus Switch

Maurizio Sarri has left Chelsea to take up the managerial post with Juventus after penning a three-year contract. The 60-year-old only took the reins at Stamford Bridge last summer but his time in west London has been far from smooth.

Sarri was unbeaten in his first 18 games across all competitions but fans lost faith in his tactics as the season developed. He finished third in the Premier League, reached the League Cup final and won the Europa League but has opted to return to his homeland.

“In talks we had following the Europa League final, Maurizio made it clear how strongly he desired to return to his native country, explaining that his reasons for wanting to return to work in Italy were significant,” said Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia.

“He also believed it important to be nearer his family, and for the well-being of his elderly parents he felt he needed to live closer to them at this point.” Reports claim Juventus have paid a compensation fee in excess of £5million to bring in Massimiliano Allegri’s successor.
