Senegal Beat Hosts Algeria On Penalties To Land First-Ever CHAN Title

It is another continental title for Senegal as they defeated hosts Algeria on penalty shootout, to emerge champions of this year’s Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).

It is Senegal’s first-ever CHAN title and have now added it to the AFCON title they won in 2022 in Cameroon.

Recall the Senegalese A team overcame Egypt on penalties also to be crowned AFCON champions for the first time.

After both teams failed to find the back of the net following a pulsating 120 minutes of football, Senegal then went on to win 5-4 on penalties.

While the Teranga Lions converted all their spot kicks, Algeria saw one of their attempt saved by the opposition keeper.

In the third-place match played on Friday, a 90th minute goal by Madagascar saw them pip Benin Republic 1-0.

Great game. Algeria thought by preventing Morocco from attending the event that it is automatically there’s. Even the 5th penalty taker for Algeria was so funny, wanted to score in

Afcon, chan, soccer beach champion senegal has proven they are the best at the moment. Notice they are not bragging or making noice still wondering if our noisy neighbor @Ghana has achieved all this @selfmade and his friends will taunt us all day. Is God not wonderful? God said he hate the haughty ones. Watch out very soon they will start making noise how they will win the next afcon cos they are the best. Hahahaha

    • @Selfmade Nigeria is too busy trying to push Nigerian NPFL players into the Super Eagles team that is above thier standard and level instead of following the right channels and dvelopement stage which will also bring the best Exposure to the NPFL according to thier Level. Nigeria did not take this competition serious because in the Administrators minds the players in NPFL are of international standards that way forgeting to select and camp on time. Nigeria is backward and corrupt.

Senegal is just doing things the right way and everybody in Senegal Knows thier Place

LOOL, Adeyinka, you took the words out of my mouth! The North Africans, Algeria especially, are fond of this WIN ANYHOW mentality. They are ready to cheat, steal, or do anything and everything, as long as victory is secured.
They did not see Senegal coming.
Senegal are now the AFCON and CHAN champions. Looks like they are doing something right with their football over there!

Senegal and Morocco are the two best teams in Africa.. there must be something they are doing with their football than others are not..

U20 flying eagles will be playing Senegal soon in the youth afcon, while our u17 will be playing Morocco aa well.. our boys must up their game to win those games

The importance of a competent and reliable goal keeper was again the high point of this match just like the just concluded world cup. There are no longer minnows in football that u get to a final and win wotowoto in regulation time .These days ,from the knock out stages games start being settle by penalties. Only the teams with very good goalkeepers go through . Nigeria may have the best attack in world football today judging by the performance of her strikers in some top leagues in the world but all these will make no difference in the absence of a good goal keeper. That’s why I wana use this forum to apeal to the NFF to take the keeper department more seriously by hiring a foreign keeper trainer with a proven track record ASAP. Peter Rufai or Eyeama can then be brought in as assistant. With this I believe tangible result will be obtained and hence SE chances of winning a major continental or international tournament will be improved

You’re right on this, we need transparency and open mindedness to get the best GK for the country. If it can be an open slot to only choose the best and consistent performer regardless of where you’re coming from. Goalkeeping department is one of the most important position of any football team. I don’t want to call names I just want the best to be discovered.

  • You people are missing the point can we all see how this football competition has generated alot of media attention and coverage can you see the how embarrassing it was for Nigeria Missing out?? can you all see the huge Developmental benefits this competition will have on local players aspiring to make it through to Europe or Into SE Infact this should be the only i repeat only route for LOCAL NPFL to prove they are metal ready for Super Eagles. When we say Local players should focus on CHAN they will start to clamor for Local players to go and Punch above their weight. The reason Nigeria did not make it is simple Ex Players administrators of NFF are too busy trying to push NPFL players on Super eagles forgetting that their are Levels to football, the Best NPFL players should have been selected and camped for at least 2 months ahead of that Ghana Qualifiers but no they will be clamoring for them to be included in a International team that is way above their standards by so doing confusing the whole Super eagles chemistry and what should have been a Chan Eagles Chemistry.

This is why other African countries will continue to give us a big gap in our football i.e. Algeria Senegal. These days any competition National competition that is you do not see Nigeria’s name because things in that country are not done the right way period.

will we Learn the answer is a big No No.. Infact i tire for this Nigeria of a nation
