Serie A: Lookman Scores Again As Atalanta Beat Empoli

Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman continues to maintain his goal scoring form as Atalanta beat Empoli 2-0 in Sunday’s Serie A game.

The Nigerian international, who has netted five goals in 12 appearances for Atalanta, was simply at his best today.

The visitor took the lead in the 32nd minute through Hans Hateboer’s cool finish.

Atalanta could have made it two goals but Koopmeiners failed to convert his penalty in the 42nd minute.

However, Lookman extended their lead in the 59th minute with a brilliant goal to seal the maximum points for Atalanta.

The win means Atalanta sit second on 27 points while Empoli sit 13 on 11 points.

I said it before and I will say it again. This was a good move for Lookman, upwards movement. Lookman, found a permanent home.

He was on loan for a couple of seasons. To a terrible fullham team where Scott Parker didn’t like scoring. He now got fired from bournemouth when they were in relegation zone and now doing better. Mitrovic only scored 3 goals under him, where right now he has 9 goals. To leicester team where he did a little bit better, scored more but came off the bench. And now to Atalanta. I mean they’re always in uefa competitions, but not right now.

Osimhen and Lookman thriving outside of the premier league and it should stay that way. Osimhen has to win a trophy this season. Champions league, seria a, coppa italia, super coppa, something. Same for Lookman, he should seal a top 4 position to play in the champions league and or also win trophies.

I mean Lookman is thriving, the way he created his own goal dribbling through the defenders to score. Osimhen is joint top in serie a with 7 goals, non from penalty. And Lookman has 5

Ademola Lookman style of play is a template that other nigerian wingers should emulate. His high goals scoring performance this season was as a result of him playing closer to the edge of box 18. The likes of chukwueze, ejuke and Simon should know that the primary purpose of an inverted winger is to contribute goals are not to be hugging touch line.

    • MAJOR FLEX, 1 year ago

Finally someone has said what i have been saying, how can silly chukwueze score goals when all he does is hug the touch line, hug the edge of the pitch? That guy is quite unserious, hope he doesn’t go down the iheanacho rout. Football is like science, you have to study your game, put in the work, physical work and smart work, chukwueze is definitely not putting in the smart work, man is busy flexing, he can finesse his shot, give good through passes, why then is he playing adama traores game? Can’t he look at his brothers game development? At charleroi, osimhen played a bit like a false nine cum point man, at lille, strict point man, hold up striker, fox in the box, occassional counter attack striker, at Napoli, they requested thay he becomes better with the ball on his feet,we are seeing massive improvement these days, what’s chukwueze doing? Man has world class gift, but e dey flex, tiring, always looking fatigued on the pitch, no sharpness

You guys do realize the position of players on the field is based on instructions from the coach right?

        • Golden Child 1 year ago

Are you minding these guys, they do not understand football. Football is all about space and the most intelligent players go to where they can find space or create space for themselves. Hugging the touchline is part of creating space, depending on the kind of game, hugging the touchline is necessary. Smart players who play as 10 find that pocket 9f space to wreck havoc. If there is space in the box also, the player take up positions there.

Chukwueze style on the pitch is very annoying, I think he needs a new club that would change his lazy and frustrating playing style, He stands on the touchline,
he doesn’t know how to position himself to receive passes, he always position himself close to opponents rather than make use of available space, I’m really disappointed in him.

DOES MUSA WILL ALLOW HIM TO HAVE MORE PLAYING TIME IN SUPER EAGLE. BECAUSE WE NIGERIA ALWAYS BELIEVE IN IRRELEVANT OLD-CARGO EXPERIENCE, CLAIMING THAT THE YOUNG LAD DOESN’T HAVE EXPERIENCE.

    • I think Eminent Nigerians should lead a delegation to musa to plead with him to allow our National team move forward….. thank God Ighalo and some other old dead weight have been stylishly removed from the national team of recent…… Nigeria is loaded in that Musa’s wing and every coach is mandated to pick him once he is fit……This days it seems he is only playing club football inorder to be selected for the national team because he doesn’t need to do anything special at club level to get selected unlike other players who play the same wing with him in the national team.

      • Tristan 1 year ago

Ahmed Musa has transcended football and is now a politician. Anyone, let alone a player, freely donating money to the U23 side is not doing it because he is patriotic. If he wants to show patriotism he should retire from international football as he promised to do, and give younger players a chance to be selected. With his many wives and Naira spraying, he must be preparing himself for politics as a governor of his state. If that is so, I wish him well but it is past time he exited from the SE.

Weldone, Lookman. You are doing really well for yourself. Keep it going.

Am pained we are not going to world cup this guys are playing the game of their lives and believe me we would have done well in the world cup

    • Golden Child 1 year ago

With which goal keeper? Better thank God you were saved the misery. Or is it with the 442 coach? Thank me later.

  • DON'T MIND THEM 1 year ago

    ***FOR THE WING PLAY ***
AHMED MUSA IS THE MAIN PROBLEM IN THAT POSITION. HE IS OLD AND NOT RELEVANT FOR BOTH CLUB AND NATIONAL TEAM. HE WAS JUST USING CHARITY (donating money to U-23 Team, school in North) TO DECEIVE & COVER UP IN ORDER TO BE INCLUDED IN NATIONAL TEAM so that if included, people will not critize his inclusion.
*** AHMED MUSA HAVE DONE WELL AND TRIED IN SUPER EAGLE. HE HAVE PASSED HIS PRIME. NO MATTER WHAT MESSI-RONALDO ARE PLAYING TODAY, THEY CAN NEVER BE be LIKE BEFORE.
*”” MUSA WILL BLOCK THE CHANCES OF LOOKMAN, CHUKWUEZE, DENNIS, G.SAVIOUR, EJUKE TO BE PLAY REGULARLY FOR WING PLAY IN SUPER EAGLE.
*** BY NOW AHMED MUSA SHOULD HAVE QUIT/RETIRE FROM SUPER EAGLE IN ORDER TO GIVE CHANCES TO YOUNG LADS.

Now! We can say bye bye to Victor Moses for real. Not Samuel Kanu that we once thought,

  • pompei 1 year ago

Lookman is really loving life in Italy. He is doing well partly because the Atalanta coach knows how to properly use him. Coach Pese should watch closely, and create an identical environment for him in the SE.
BTW, Ejaria is available and seems eager to lace boots for the SE, going by this article.
    https://www.owngoalnigeria.com/2022/10/29/my-son-wants-to-play-for-nigeria-father-of-england-u20-world-cup-winner-declares/
Imagine a midfield of Iwobi, Ndidi and Ejaria. With Onyedika, Yusuf and possibly Nwobodo as additional options. We should not be having midfield issues, not with players like these available.

    • Ignatius Abo 1 year ago

How come you didn’t mention Frank Onyeka, Kelechi Nwakali and Success Makanjuola? These three players are far better than the ones you mentioned.

      • pompei 1 year ago

Igna, with all due respect to the heaven blessed individuals you mentioned, I believe the guys I listed are the best we have at the moment. My fallible opinion though.

  • Collins id 1 year ago

At least we know that musa is not in form. One way or the other musa is still better than moses Simon, emmanuel Dennis, and ejuke, it is only samuel kalu that has made impact from that wing since musa left, unfortunately the guy is out of form.
The likes of moses simon, emmanuel dennis and few others wether they are in form or not we dont expect nothing from there.
Its not really by club performance when it comes to super eagles, there are natural eagles and musa is surely a natural eagle. Musa chukwueze/kalu these are the most effective wingers since moses retired the rest have been tried and we are yet to see a replical of musa’s magic

    • MONKEY POST 1 year ago

Kai @COLLINS you DESERVE some PORK MEAT for this your INTELLIGENT COMMENTS. Tell me your LOCATION let me WAYBILL it for you….

    • Give the number of caps and game time you gave to Musa to those guys you mentioned before you judge their output for the national team…… It’s only in Nigeria that club football doesn’t determined national team selection……. Tomorrow when teams that use use club form to determine national team selection are celebrating success you will start wishful thinking…….Musa has paid his dues like victor Moses and Mikel obi and we are grateful…..He needs to bow out honourably and allow the younger wingers who are playing top level football step in……we can’t keep planting cassava and expecting to harvest yam..haba!……our next major tournament is in almost two years from now why not we look forward instead of looking backwards??……two years from now would Musa even still be able to play professional football??……we are in a rebuilding process and rooting for Musa at this point in time is just backwardness…. simple

      • @Akp bro you have said it all o.. It is counter Productive Bro. I dont even know why we are still debating this. anyway when have @MONKEY POST ever had any productive feedback for anything. Even Victor Moses had we utilised his services last year instead of Musa in the form that Moses was in We would be in World Cup. i mean this Georgian Kid Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Who is vying/Competing for Best Napoli player in 2022/2023 season with Victor Osimhen was in the Russian League (Ruben Kazan) last year and only left due to the war. Yet Victor Moses was outshining every player in the League including Kvara. Nigeria still decided to rely on Ahmed Musa for example who was struggling for form and goals in the 70th minute of the game against Ghana. I mean we had to indroduce him in the 70th minute to fulfil all righteousness and he did nothing let us not forget Cerezo hands was tied with Musa as he was ordered to do so. Victor Moses was in a crazy Club run at the time carrying his team on his back. AFCON Moses just the month before Knocked ou Napoli and Leicester in the Europa League group of death. he still didnt go to AFCON instead Musa went as Motivator. Nigerian Fans clueless ones Pushed for Musa and said he had the bigger pedigree than Moses in SE. yet moses won us AFCON 2013 and almost single handedly qualified us froma group of death that included Algeria and Cameroon 2018. so his experience in the 2022 qualifiers would have been much more valuable at least based on passed SE outings. But because Musa is Fulani, Clueless nigerians who live in the past criminally exalted Musa over victor Moses. Nigeria not being at World Cup is NFF and Fans like @MONKEY POST fault. clueless people who push players based on achievements of years back whether thier legs are still able to produce the same or not. @Akp, number of caps must be earned and not gifted. Musa merited his number of caps my brother, he hit the ground running from the start. Remember at one stage in 2010/11 he was playing for both U20 and Super Eagles concurrently. He debuted for SE at age of 17 and scored his first SE goal at age of 18 in March 2011, he played for U20 at Colombia 2011 U20 WC same year.

He has always performed creditably well ever since and till date he remained the most influential player in SE. However having said all these, I believe it is time for hm to hang his international booth as he had promised us all before the ill-fated WC qualifier against Ghana. He will forever be respected by us all if he can do us this simple honour and be a motivator in chief for the younger lads from the stands. Nothing last forever, their is a time for everything in life

    Viva MUSA the King!!!

@Ugo Iwunze, Victor Moses is a player my heart so desires to have in our dear SE but the problem was that he wasn’t prepared to rescind his international retirement. The NFF contacted him but he stood his ground

        • Victor Moses was ready to rescind he said he needed time to think about it and is open to playing the knock outs of World Cup and Afcon if called upon yet Pinnick with Rohr full backing infact at the pressure of Rohr preferred to fly to Dubai to meet Ighalo and pet Musa instead of reaching out to one of the most decisive SE players that is still plying his trade. Look at the achievements SE produced when Victor Moses was dawning the shirt. Wr did not fail to qualify for any major tournaments unless when he was not involved in the squad if you look at both our Afcon failure to qualify in 2015 and 14 respectively you will see that the coaches at the time dubiously left the major players out at the time Vic Moses and Mikel Obi along with Vincent Enyeama. And all this while Musa was always there any big knock out game Vic Moses played he was the decisive player in 2013 Afcon and 2018 World Cup qualifiers at the world cup proper yes Musa scored 2 goalz but Victor Moses was still Nigeria’s best player. look at Afcon 2019 you can argue that Nigeria did not do as well because Vic Moses had just retired these are facts. If you were Vic Moses how will you feel when you know full well that players you outshined by miles not even by close but miles are being petted more than you and made to feel more like legends of SE than you. For most of Moses time for SE was Musa not a sub or super sub if you like yet Moses will always play and outshine for 90mins. Needless to say last season before the Russian War Moses was displaying the same form he displayed when he helped Conte win the Epl title with Chelsea. Food for Though as to Nigeria’s reasoning. We are to blame for our own failures as to lack of adequate prioritizing and Sentimental nature
