Serie A: Lookman’s Strike Earns Unbeaten Atalanta 2-1 Win Vs Sassuolo

Serie A: Lookman’s Strike Earns Unbeaten Atalanta 2-1 Win Vs Sassuolo

A brilliant strike by Ademola Lookman earned Atalanta a hard fought 2-1 home win against Sassuolo in the Serie A on Saturday.

It was Lookman’s fourth goal in 10 appearances in the Italian elite division.

Also, he has now scored in his last three outings for Atalanta who go top on the log courtesy the win against Sassuolo.

And after 10 league games played so far this season, Atalanta are yet to lose (seven wins, three draws).

They are on 24 points, just one above Napoli who will reclaim top spot if they beat Bologna on Sunday.

And in Saturday’s game Sassuolo broke the deadlock on 41 minutes with a stunning left-foot volley at the back post from Giorgos Kyriakopoulos. That was the first time all season that Atalanta conceded before half-time.

But one minute of first half stoppage time Atalanta were back on level terms, as Consigli flapped at a pull-back from the by-line, Brandon Soppy kept his cool and picked the right pass for Mario Pasalic to sweep home from eight yards.

Barely 20 seconds after the restart, Atalanta turned it around. Soppy was involved again, making an immediate forward pass, where Lookman shrugged off Martin Erlic and curled left-footed into the far top corner.

I’m glad Lookman chose Nigeria. This are the kind of talents I will beg to play for the SuperEagles. Not all these Eze, Olise and co who are still undecided. I can only hope that Lookman can help us convince that Okoli boy to choose Nigeria. He’s destined to be a top defender. Those are the kind of talents I want in the SuperEagles.

We welcome all players who are proud to don the Nigerian jersey. Nigeria may have a bad rap at the moment, but we’ll rise to excellence.

Well said Brodaman Afily. Some of these useless bloggers masquerading as journalists ask us to beg Eze and Olise. Shior…. Is that how we begged Lookman???
Heaven bless all deserving journalists. Lolzzzz

Nigeria should stop begging players to play for them.. if Okoli want Italy he should go with them.. we didn’t beg lookman yet he choose to Play for Nigeria.. is eze better than lookman , is okoli better than bassey?.. we must learn to focus on the players that want to Play for Nigeria and stop embarrassing ourselves.. there are too many options out there..

We wanted Lookman, begged him and he refused. When England refused to invite him because he was unstable in his career at the time, he decided to choose Nigeria. I’m happy for him and what he brings to the Super Eagpes.

It is true that they only choose Nigeria if they think that their career is going nowhere. Lookman’s career was not that bright he was an eternal substitute, but Nigeria helped him raise his international profile and the Italians gave him the opportunity to earn a starting jersey, which he grasped with both hands by showing his talent as a player.
Bassey’s career was also going nowhere, he was dropped from the Leicester academy and found himself with a last shot at a football career in Scotland. This is where he met Balogun and Aribo, who encouraged him to join Nigeria. Similarly Aribo.
Nigeria may miss out on some players like Saka, Tomori, and others, but we would still find talent – diamonds in the rough – in the diaspora that has been overlooked because there are so many Nigerian players.

Look me see BOMB. BOMB AL DEM YUR. Leipzig n Leicester swallowing fingers in awesome surprise. Lolzz. Love this lad. Let Nacho continue to foolishly worship Leicester/England whilst his talent cry in writhing pain. In fact, I wish Peseiro stops inviting Nacho until he sit up and get serious with his football. His complacency about his career is negatively impacting.

To me Nacho is crazy, he has wasted his career and talent by lacking ambition, and challenge, and being satisfied with playing as a substitute at Leicester. Even when he plays these days he lacks match fitness and makes mistakes. Until he leaves his comfort zone at Leicester, he will continue to underperform.

  • Convincing a player to chose Nigeria at international level is not BEGGING…… We use the word BEGGING carelessly most times……If a player is wanted by a club it is expected that the sporting director of the club has to do some convincing to make the player see reasons to go to his club……The sporting director has to tell the player the plans and ambition of his club…… The sporting director has to tell the player how he is needed in the plans of his club……It’s not begging….. But Nigerians with their arrogance and inferiority complex will term it begging…….If England German France Spain can convince players to play for them then who is Nigeria???….. Lizard that thinks he is a crocodile mtchew!
