  • Simy keeps banging in the goals for his relegation team but no one seems to care, or even call for his inclusion in the Super Eagles team for the upcoming games. He is still better technically than some players who will be invited and he is the highest scoring Nigerian in the top 5 major leagues this season but that doesn’t count for anything.
Anyway, simy should keep scoring goals aplenty, if his lucky he will get a club in serie A after crotone goes down.

@Sportsfan about half of the 10 goals he scored were penalty kicks. What he needs to do is score more from open play like he did today only then people would start taking notice.
The position he is playing is very competitive besides he is not a young player anymore because younger lads are given more priority.
Apparently, you have to be way above average to have any chance of playing for the super eagles or most ambitious team if you are over 27 years old.

He has nothing more to prove, after being Seria B highest goal scorer last season, and currently Nigeria highest goal scorer in the top 5 league, ahead of Awoniyu, Kelechi, moffi and Victor. Even while playing with the poorest club personnel in Italy.

Scoring penalty is not a weakness but rather a strength, being able to shoulder the responsibility for his club like Bruno Fernandes is doing for Man U. If penalty goal was less a goal, it will not be added to the goals of top strikers when compiling highest goal scorers.

And Super Eagles cannot currently boast of a dependable penalty taker since the departure of Ighalo and Moses.

His performance in Serial A is been overshadowed by his club status on the table due to their defensive short comings. Having the poorest defence in Serial A.

I believe he will get a serious club that can give him the recognition he truly deserves. Keep shining Simmy

@Ikeben I’m only making a case for him.A 20 years old with similar stat as Simmy in the serie A would be a genuine contender for a place in the super eagles.
That said,he still has a good chance to be part of the team and I’m sure Rohr is beaming his searchlight on Simmy but for Simmy to up his chances he needs to score more in open play.
The super eagles technical team look at various qualities and stats which fans are not really bothered about before issuing invitation, that’s why most times we don’t agree with the coaches. He is not coming to super eagles to score penalties the coaches will look at how many goals from open play and assists he has in the current season to determine his call up to the group.
I’m not being too hard on Simmy rather I’m just honest and I believe there are plenty more games left in the current season for him to make a case for his future invite to the super eagles.

It would be tough for Simy…(breaking into the Eagles.
Although he keeps proving his ability.)
I do fancy him to Onuachu.. but that’s just me..

The fight for the striking position is tight.

Iheanacho is the most technically gifted of the lot right now.
His positional awareness and his finishing are top notch.
His ability to play behind is an added advantage for pairing.

Osimhen ( when back and fully fit) is much more agile , faster, strong, got insightful runs and his willingness to play for the team is second to none.
Sadiq is much more similar to Osimhen though slower but his intelligence has made him turn that to his strength as he is sleek with his legs and got great hold up play.

Maja,Moffi,Awoniyi, Ajayi; are all good but need more consistency to play their way to the front of the line.

And Onuachu. Well. We all know his ability . A good finisher. But He is just too slow and lacks that hold up play that someone of his height should possess. He needs to work more on his physicality or he might not just cut it in the Eagles.

Greenturf i agree with sportsfan and ikeben at this because there is more to Simy than penalties, just that the coach can not invite everyone most especially now that they’re on fire, moffi ,Onuachu, kelechi, Umar, Simy even Osihmen pushed down to pecking other but due to his contributions in the green white green he can’t be ignored. The coach has all the headaches to win.

  • Dont penalties count anymore or is scoring penalties regularly easy and has he missed a single penalty this season? Onuachu is genks number one penalty taker and I bet penalties have added to his 24 goals this season. Even if 50% of his goals are penalties, it doesn’t take away anything from his goal scoring abilities. Last season he scored 20 goals (including penalties I guess) in serie B. This season its 10 goals already in serie A. Lets not down play his ability just because he isnt one of our favourite players. He deserves a look in and a chance to compete for a place in the team (SUPER EAGLES).

Simeon Nwankwo 10 goals in italian league is not easy it is more valuable than more than 20 goals scored by Onuachu in Belgium league
I really hope and pray that next season top 6 italian club will buy you so you so you keep banging your goals

      Keep it up !

stop embarrassing yourself young man…..how can you say 50% of Paul’s goals are penalties.

  • Greenturf 3 years ago

Absolutely @ Chima E Samuels.Theres more to Simmy’s game than penalties.Simmy in his short time in the super eagles did a lot better than Paul Onuachu who has played unproductively for nearly two years now.
The thing is our coach is a big fan of younger players. But that does not fair well for Simmy who should be about 29 the same appalling fate also suffered by Anthony Nwakeme who plays in the super lig with a top team and amazing stat. The reason he’s not in the super eagles is his age.Nwakeme is 31yrs old.
It’s not a personal thing I don’t have any problem with his invitation but under his circumstances,I know it’s tough, and the reason he should make it really hard for the coach not to ignore him in future games.
