Shevchenko: We Picked Valuable Lessons In Draw Vs Super Eagles

Ukraine head coach Andriy Shevchenko says his team learnt valuable lessons from Tuesday night 2-2 draw against Nigeria in their friendly encounter at the Dnipro Arena, reports Completesports.com.

The hosts were largely subdued by the visitors who enjoyed a 2-0 lead going into the half-time break.

But they fought back in the second half to earn a share of the spoils with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Roman Yaremchuk finding the back of the net.

Shevchenko also admitted that the Super Eagles were a tougher opponent than Lithuania who they defeated 3-0 in an European Championship qualifier last weekend.

”It is very difficult to find the ideal at all. The team is moving in the right direction. It is impossible to compare today’s match with the previous one against Lithuania,”Shevchenko told reporters after the game.

“It is a completely different team made up of players who play in different championships. But today’s game was very important, we received a lot of valuable information.”

Now compare this press statement to that of Rohr’s..

    Clearly this is a man that respects the Nigerian team,trying to be humble and at the same time not taking anything away from his and his team’s pride;
Not overreaching and certainly not underestimating. A tactfully response to stay the course.

Weak mindset and lack of ambition are the major issues I have with this coach.

I wonder why some people misinterprete inferiority complex and lack of ambition as humility. Our coach needs a sports psychologist to teach him a thing or two about the role attitude and mindset plays in the outcome of a game.

      Thanks Mr. Hush

  • Another thing I don’t like about Rohr is, when we were leading he switches into defending forgetting that the best form of defence is attack. The more you attack you weaken your opponent. Moses simeon is no longer the winger we used to know, I think Rohr should make Aribo Iwobi’s replacement, if he must start then he has to a replacement for Iwobi. As for me is not a must ndidi start a game for Eagles.

  • Oga Shevchenko, if the ref was not so unashamedly biased, you would have learnt more valuable lessons.

Is almighty FIFA taking note of these atrocious lapses, or just busy dishing out suspicious LIFE bans?

You people should leave rohn.. He is an old man and old men don’t like talking much.. They are seen alot in life which has made me realize that the world is vanity.. Who knows what he tells his boys behind close doors and is the most important.. As long as produces result what ever he says for him doesn’t matter..

Cool to say that you learnt valuable lessons from the friendly but at cost where. A Referee had to deliberately offer u a Greek gift of a second goal where riles states that irrespective of how a goal is whether a hand was involved deliberately or not it shouldn’t be allowed . You learnt nothing at all Andrea schevchenko. A frienly match is supposed to be fair and to look in to your team of its strength and weakness
But what was going on was that an African team was gonna kick your ass at the very stadium where you’ve been dominating other African teams.the fear of losing to the super eagles of Nigeria who hails from Africa .

Mr.Hush good day sir. You know, anytime I saw your comment in this platform I love to read it with rapt attention.I love your writing skills of analysis without being offensive.
I hope to meet you physically in due time….

It is just a humble request sir.

I was very happy with Aribo’s performance yesterday he really impressed me and confirmed to me that all I heard and watched about him via YouTube is not fluke…
the most disappointment I had in that yesterday encounter is the coming in of Esiti: He obviously looks very heavy and his performance was NOT at par with his team mates especially in our midfield set up. well, I don’t want to say that he is not super eagles material yet but believe me, if you watched the tempo of the game before he comes in, you will surely understand that he did nothing really to assis at all.

As for Simon Moses, I had always believed that that guy is overrated and he justified to me yesterday when he comes. I am sorry to say he may not be the kind of player that will stay too long in this new set of players in the national team considering those wingers on the queue like Sheyi OJO, Ademola LOOKMAN and Samuel ADEGBENRO not forgetting onyekuru HENRY…my
verdict on simon is that most a times he plays to the gallery.

Or is that the Referee was more afraid of Ukrainian crowds that he had to cowardly offer such a goal . Hmm! I wonder .

Pple go just dey yarn Apata getting themselves worked up for naffin_
Which one is Coach Said this and said that, na Mouth dm de use play Football? Rohr is an Elder who knows hw to use only Eye contact to wield his authority even though he appears to be Smiling…
Focus on d happenings around the pitch the boys level of discipline from the coach tells in their seriousness on/outside the field of Play.
Imaging if he States the “obvious” about his Young Team nw >Hell will break loose.
Someone is talking about coach Nwora and his team as if they won they FIBA world cup when their performance can be weighed equally with the Afcon tournament by Rorh’s Team.
Wen i see progress i know, our Football & Basketball is on the Rise once more.
Any way, some pple wouldn’t just Like your personality no matter what you do and Rohr knows that very well.
