Former Nigerian goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu has revealed that it will be improper for the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to invite Ahmed Musa to the team despite been clubless for five months ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.
The Nigerian international, who always been in the good books of the German tacticians after departing his Saudi side, Al Nassr in October 2020, was part of the squad that featured against Sierra Leone in the doubleheader fixtures.
Although some football fans have been demanding his omission from the list of players that will be invited for the make or mar games against Benin and Lesotho, however, Shorunmu stated that it’s Rohr’s decision to determine Musa’s fate in the team.
He also said that inviting him to the Super Eagles will be a waste of space because the player won’t be in top shape for the two games.
“It is left for the coach to invite whoever he feels he needs into the team, Shorunmu told Punch.
“I however don’t think it is the best thing to invite someone who has not been playing for about five months to the national team. You don’t expect such a player to be in top form and shape,” Shorunmu said.

What is all this discussion of Musa and Super Eagles abeg. The guy has been club less for more than 5 months and out of shape for over 2 years the fact that the powers of influence are still debating this topic when it should be a no brainer in any other footballing country, shows how mediocre mentality prevails in Nigeria and, just how backward and rigged the Nigerian footballing quota system is.
It Is not the first time it will happen any help to him will be good for his fitness even if he did not play just training with the guys will be a gift to him
