Former Nigerian international Yakubu Aiyegbeni has disclosed that signing for Everton was a great moment for him.
Aiyegbeni scored 33 goals in 107 appearances for Everton across all competitions between 2007 and 2011.
Known as “The Yak,” he was a key striker for the club, scoring 25 goals in the Premier League, making him a highly effective forward during his time at Goodison Park.
Speaking with Everton’s official website, Aiyegbeni stated that he played his best football at Everton.
“The welcome from the fans meant so much to me. I was with my daughter, and for her to see the fans and see that they still love me is something I will never forget.

“It’s so lovely to see the people remember the good things I did for the Club.
“Signing for Everton was a great moment,” he added. “I fell in love from day one.
“It’s a special club. We call it the ‘People’s Club’. The fans are so friendly. The way they welcomed me was so special.
“Even now, I still support them. I just love the place. Goodison Park back then – we made memories.
“The Club is always special to me. I think I played my best football here.
“Coming all the way from Boro, scoring goals and playing in Europe – it was a great atmosphere, and they’re great memories.”
