Simon Opens New Ligue 1 Season With Assist As Nantes Hold Monaco Away

Moses Simon kicked off the 2021/2022 Ligue 1 season with an assist as Nantes held AS Monaco to a 1-1 away draw on Friday night, Completesports.com reports.

The game was the first of the new campaign with the other fixtures coming up this weekend.

Simon set up teammate Jean-Charles Castelletto for the equaliser on 42 minutes.

Gelson Martins had given Monaco the lead in the 14th minute.

The Super Eagles winger was later replaced with seven minutes left in the game.

And in the English Championship, Semi Ajayi was an unused substitute for West Brom who held Bournemouth to a 2-2 draw away.

It was the first fixture of the new campaign in the English second-tier league.
