Simy, Obi In Action As Salernitana Lose Serie A Opener At Bologna

It was not the best of starts to life for Simy Nwankwo and Joel Obi, as they suffered defeat with Salernitana away to Bologna in their first game of the season, Completesports.com reports.

Both Simy and Obi joined newly Salernitana in the summer and came on in the second half.

While Simy was introduced on 64 minutes, Obi came on with eight minutes remaining in the game.

Bologna and Salernitana both had a player sent off in 50th and 34th minutes respectively.

But it was Salernitana who opened the scoring on 52 minutes from the penalty spot which was converted by Federico Bonazzoli.

In the 59th minute Lorenzo De Silvestri equalised for Bologna but Salernitana went 2-1 up on 70 minutes through Mamadou Coulibaly.

With 15 minutes left Marko Arnautovic made it 2-2 before De Silvestri scored the winner on 77 minutes.

  • Osimhen just got his matching order in 23rd minutes, no be juju be this? Play all unimportant friendly without a booking, and first match of the season ,gbam straight red, this guys need our prayers men.

But Victor should have known better than lashing out on an opponent under the least provocation like he did. With over 18 cameras watching, it will be practically impossible to get away with such acts. He should learn to control his Adrenaline.

He just killed my mood for this evening. I was already rooting for him to open his goals account like his other national team mates have done so far.

Anyway…good riddance to bad rubbish….good thing for us…he gets enough time to rest for our WCQ in 2 weeks time.

      • Yea accepted, but not a straight red, I just stop watching the match after that men.

  • The same way he started last year. He needs prayers.

  • SEBI u re d one that is putting pressure and much expectations on him. He is trying to impress by all means rather than calming down and play his normal game, no thanks to all the noise of Victor will score this and score that..

Yea,at Dr Drey, that was silly of Osimhen. Was actually waiting all day for the match only to be let down like that,so painful.Consolation is on Ebuehi who is not doing badly so far.

    • Which Iwobi, Mosses not doing well? Is like u didn’t watch them u only wred on newspaper. Is it only when a players scored that he is doing well. Even Ekong did not do anything wrong except d misplaced pass so also Etebo u guys are shouting they both lasted 90 minute in the match. Do you think d coach will put them on for entire duration of that match if technically they are that bad? The problem was that the whole Watford team had a poor team and hence not a match for Brighton.

By now he should know that being provoked is part of the gimmicks opponents use… He acted amateurish… What will he do when the racists chants start? Slap the referee? Make Osimhen calm down!

@jimmyball, my brother I wonder ooo.
While Osimhen is getting red carded in less than 30 minutes into the match, Tammy Abraham has pics two assists already. Let’s keep watching. The only positive takeaway from this weekend’s games is that most of our players started for their respective clubs. I’m already seeing a potential starting eleven for the qualifiers.

A challenging weekend for many for some of our stars and many ending on the loosing side. From Ekong’s mistake, Etebo poor showing and Osimhen’s poor judgment. Others like Iwobi, Moses are not impressing.

At the same time, the likes of Onyeka, Okoye did well, while Aribo, Awoniyi, Akpoguma all scoring goals to help their various clubs.

In all, let’s look at the positives which is that they are key players for their clubs and let’s hope for the best during the World cup qualifiers.
