Former international Sam Sodje has said Finidi George is not good enough to lead the Super Eagles.
Finidi has endured a poor start to his reign following the Super Eagles poor performance in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
The West Africans held Bafana Bafana to a 1-1 draw and lost 2-1 away to the Cheetahs.
They now languish in fifth position on the Group C table with three points from four games.

This has led to mounting calls for Finidi to be sacked.
“The NFF has to sort themselves out. If you sack him, what are you expecting to get? Well, yes. Coaches are being judged for results. He has not got his results right now,” Sodje told Brila FM.
“We aim to qualify for the World Cup. If we keep going the way we’re going, we won’t qualify. So, it’s not about Finidi George, it’s about what we want.
“So yes, sacking him might not be the worst idea, because we need to be in the World Cup.”

The main problem is the nff!
Most of the folks in the nff live off some players and their agents..
The gave us Finishi when it was obvious he failed his trial tests favoring some overrated players and mismanaged the team in those friendlies.
The reason underperforming players keep getting recycled at the expense of more illustrious and prolific ones..
The reason Kelechi and Ndidi would
leave camp to hang out with Sabinus
them at the expense of WC.
The reason senior bench warmers get the nod ahead of active first teamers.
The reason injured players get smuggled into to camp. The dishonest ones- It started with Awaziem, then Kelechi, and now Onyeka..

NFF SHOULD HAVE EMPLOY A HIGHLY TECHNICAL FOREIGN COACH THAT KNOW ABOUT AFRICAN FOOTBALL & SUPER EAGLE PLAYERS.
THE REASON WHY SOME EX-PLAYERS AND SOME PRESENT SUPER EAGLE PLAYERS ARE IN SUPPORT OF INDIGENOUS COACH(especially Finidi) IS BECAUSE THAT, IT WILL BE VERY EASY FOR THEM TO PENETRATE IN HIM, CONTROLLING HIM & DICTATING TO HIM WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYERS SELECTION, WHICH IT CANNOT BE POSSIBLE ON FOREIGN COACH. ALSO, IT WILL BE VERY EASY TO DO BUSINESS BY INTRODUCING PLAYERS TO INDIGENOUS COACH AFTER COLLECTING BRIBE FROM SUCH PLAYERS.
** NOTE: We should not be deceiving ourselves in this country because of the way things work for other countries (e.g. Democracy work well in America, S/Africa, Ghana but it doesn’t work well in Nigeria).
THE WAY THINGS WORK FOR COACH H. SHEHATA(EGYPT), COACH ALIOU CISSE(SENEGAL) BY WINNING AFCON FOR THEIR COUNTY (and also qualified for next AFCON easily) MAY NOT WORK IN NIGERIA DUE TO CORRUPTION, IMPROPER PLANNING, LACK OF STRUCTURES, BAD MANAGEMENT.
IN NIGERIA, WE ARE TOO RELIGIONISTIC, REGIONISTIC, TRIBALISTIC & SENTIMENTAL.
EVEN when Keshi won AFCON in 2013, he failed woefully to qualified for next AFCON due to bad management(Pinnick VS Giwa), sentiment, jealous, hatred towards some players (e.g. Yobo, I.K. uche, V.moses).

What matters most is to move our football forward & not celebrating FLUKE WINNING again. We struggle/manage to beat CIV by penalty in group stage. But E/guinea beat CIV 4-0 convincingly.

It is starting to like the NFF will stick with Finidi. Media outlets are stating that the former winger has still retains the full backing of his employers. If that is the case then it will be difficult to see how he drags the Super Eagles out of fire.

Finidi is a monster created by the NFF itself. There is no way they can sack Finidi without sacking themselves first. Because they will have to tell us who and who interviewed him and found him good enough for this job.

before and after the appointment of Finidi George, I was among those that frown about it, for God sake, with the calibre of players we have, Nigeria is not supposed to go for someone below Gernet Rohr and Jose Posiero. instead of going forward those in our glass house chose to politicised the only thing that unite us in this scalar nation and appointed Finidi to lead the team. A coach that is not even upto an average coach? for God sake this man do not have what it take to coach our senior national team, if those in the glass house want to compensate him, they should have given him the u23 team.
imagine Benin Republic defeating us? Who again Nigeria wan win? whether u guys like it or not, with Finidi George as our coach, no world cup for us again.

If NFF want to stick with Finidi, NO PROBLEM.
If that is the case, then the government needs to step in and do the needful.
If it comes to that, let FIFA ban us for the foreseeable future.
It is better for us to collect FIFA ban, than for these hoodlums to continue to toy with people’s emotions, stealing money that could have been used to get us a good coach, pay him, and pay players’ bonuses.
After the ban, there will be no money left to steal, and all these undesirables will be forced to leave. Then and only then, can we begin to rebuild. We will come back stronger.
Hopefully, FIFA will understand, just as they did at the female world cup, and will back our efforts to sanitize the Glass House. But even if they don’t, SO BE IT!!!

See as I dey laugh. The players are the glory of the coach. We always encourage this players to play rubbish and useless games on the field by always blaming the coaches. This players, ( Nigerian players) knew whom everyone is going to blame, so they play the nonsense in them knowing there money is waiting for them while the coach is crucified. The better we shift our blame court to this players the better they will become. Let the coach substitute whoever with whoever, if that player is good, he will play what should be played and the game will still be won.
Finito is a stupid manager. If NFF refuse to fire him, no self-preserving and highly rated player will honor his invitation next year. Most of them will pretend that they are injured therefore they cannot honor the calls. Tellar said he could not come because of family issues. Do they really respect Finito?
If they like let NFF retain their best coach, if they don’t like let NFF sack their best coach FINIDI, all I know is that Nigeria under FINIDI can’t qualify for the world cup in 2026….
Number 2, Nigeria under FINIDI will not win the opening AFCON qualifying match in September later this year…. And once you start on a loosing not you know what that means….
As far as FINIDI is concern, let’s forget about 2025 AFCON and 2026 world cup….. NIGERIA is out already even before the final round of games.

We’ve seen it from afar that nothing good will come out of FINIDI even if he’s given 10 years to do trial error…. He has nothing to offer in terms of coach…..He can’t even invite good players…. His team selection is always questionable….
How can you descend down to Tanzanian league to go and invite a player to come and play 180 minutes in a high profile world cup qualifiers???
How can you ignor the likes of AFCON best defender and player Ekong, Luton town Gabriel Osho, Igho Ugbo that has face quality strikers in Europe and start smuggling in a Tanzanian league based defender…. To come and do what in the super eagles….
Can England invite players that are not playing in the top 5 league???
Can Brazil or Argentina leave all their stars repleted all over Europe and travel to countries like panama or Trinidad and Tobago to invite players for the national team????
