For people agonising about our players late report to camp you can read from this report we are not alone in this situation.Senegal international Dia who is a member of his country’s squad to Cameroon was involved in tonight’s game so he’s yet to report to camp in preparation for the continental showpiece.
Hopefully,Chukwueze and others yet to report in camp should be in Cameroon latest Thursday.

  • Blame is not to be put upon players @Greentruf but the organizer of afcon caf.

If this game had been scheduled for mid year during which league in europe has been completed we may not find ourselves in this mess.

Watch it only those country that has majority of their players outside europe can boast of having all their players in camp as of now.

Even Cameron gan self, am not sure if they now have their players completed.

      Absolutely I agree with you.

The world cup this year is on an irregular date so leagues would start nearly after end of season for world cup break.

Besides afcon 2023 qualifiers would come hard and fast too. This is the best time

CAF should sit down and fashion a way forward for subsequent tournaments… We have to find a solution to rains problem in June to July period for window for the tournament…

We should try to harmonize the calendar with those of other associations. It’s the only way to take care of this club versus country tussle…

    • Greenturf 2 years ago

I commented on this issue not quite long @JimmyBall.
African football authorities should look for solutions, competitions shouldn’t be played right in the middle of European football season,to make matters worse this tournament is biennial.
The clubs who pay huge sums to this players are the major losers some of whom will play without their wards for weeks which isn’t good for investment. The players too most of whom will lose grounds on personal laurels due to long absence.
Meanwhile,African player winning the balon d or is difficult in this circumstances. You can imagine Mohammed Salah who’s in pole position for the award is in danger of losing out due to long absence.

  • All their 28 players are now in full camp with massive training going on with the best facilities. If it were to be the coach the turn over of the players in Nigeria camp would have been better than this that am very sure but it is what it is

Listening to Pinnick this morning on Arise TV, I cannot but marvel at the role Genot Rohr played in enduring Dennis misses the AFCON, NFF president said Dennis’ name wasn’t on the list submitted to CAF by GR on November 15. Why on Earth would this man not name our most in form player in a squad going to AFCON, Yet Musa and Sheu were there? What exactly was his criteria for selection. Rohr was already turming to something else o. Thanks God he’s gone now.

    • Greenturf 2 years ago

Probably at the time of preparing the list Dennis wasn’t as hot, aside that their could be other reasons as well.Players adaptation to a coaches playing philosophy could be a factor.
Disciplinary actions also could be responsible.
There are various reasons that could be responsible to that until you hear from both parties it won’t be fair to blame Rohr for his omission.

      • Patrator 2 years ago

As much as I’d like to agree with the fact that there are factors responsible for all that, It looks so much like you’re only making excuses for Rohr.

Rohr was archaic in his approach, his preference of players was a glaring evidence to that.

Dennis has been very consistent in his performance for Watford since the resumption of the league, I mean so consistent that no matter what was used as criteria, some players shouldn’t have made the list in the first place ahead of him.

Maybe i can agree with some personal issues GR had with Dennis, but do you throw a baby with the birth water? Are there no other way he could settle whatever is it that was between them without necessarily leaving the guy out of the squad?

Clemence Westerhof never liked the face of Yekini. People may not know this. But the coach knew what he wanted and would always call that guy to the national team no matter what, knowing somehow, that his success in that team depended to an extent on the Yekini’s goals.

Chidi Nwanu didn’t just miss Tunisia 94 for no reason. The coach deliberately left him out. He was our defender in Europe then, playing week-in, week out for Anderlecht and also regularly in the Champions League. But there was no way Emmanuel Okafor world have taken the place of Chidi for the WC in USA. Nigeria conceded some very stupid goals against CIV and Zambia in the semi final and final of Tunisia 94. So Baba knew he had to put his differences aside and bring back Chidi Nwanu. And when he returned, even Keshi couldn’t bench him! We all know the yeoman’s job Chudi and Okechukwu did on Hristo Stoikov, Roberto Baggio, Batistuta and Maradona at that WC. No sensible workman fights with his best tools. It’s do pathetic.

  • LET US FAIL WITH OUR OWN 2 years ago

It seems we will have to place a curse on some fans here, same way we placed a curse on Dennis and Watford for disrespecting our dear Country..
