Former Nigerian international Patience Avre-Odeli has appealed to the National Sports Commission (NSC) and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to prioritize early and adequate preparations for the Super Falcons to secure one of the two available African tickets for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Recall that Nigeria will face the winner of Sudan or Comoros in the second round of the African qualifying phase, which will be played between October 5 and 13, 2026.
The qualification tournament for the Los Angeles 2028 Games involves 35 countries competing for only two spots for African teams.
Speaking on Channels Television, Avre-Odeli stressed that the NSC is responsible for funding Olympic preparation, urging the NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, to collaborate closely with the NFF to provide everything the team needs.

She highlighted that the five-stage qualification process is highly competitive and requires intensive planning.
“I have been following the Super Falcons games after my retirement, and I know that without adequate preparations, the team may not do well as expected.
“Again, Olympic Games African qualifiers have always been tough because only a few tickets are available for Africa, and Nigeria cannot miss out.
“I want to believe that the Chairman of NSC, Mallam Shehu Dikko, as an astute sports administrator, will work in harmony with the NFF leadership to provide the Super Falcons all they need to navigate through the four qualifying phases to get one of the two African tickets to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games,” Avre-Odeli stated.
