Former Arsenal and Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is close to joining Barcelona, after reaching an agreement with the La Liga club and is expected to finalise the transfer soon.
Szczesny, who announced his retirement in August, has been linked to Barcelona for several days, and sources indicate that the deal is close to completion.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also revealed that the deal is almost finalised.
If all goes as planned, the former Polish international will undergo medical tests this Thursday.
Some other reports in Spain suggest that the medical will not take place tomorrow (Thursday) itself but some time later this week.
Barcelona have offered Szczesny a one-year contract, to fill the gap left by injured goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who is expected to be sidelined for about eight months due to a serious injury.
With this significant injury, Barcelona are allowed to make an emergency transfer and can utilise 80% of Ter Stegen’s salary to secure Szczesny’s services.
Also, it has been reported that the former Arsenal goalkeeper has been offered a salary of €3 million until the end of the season.
