Ten Hag Confident United Can Reach Semi-final Despite First Leg Home Draw Vs Sevilla

Manchester United coach, Erik Ten Hag, has expressed confidence that his team can still qualify for the semi-final of the Europa League despite the 2-2 draw with Sevilla at Old Trafford.

In Thursday’s quarter-final first leg United conceded two late goals to settle for a 2-2 draw with Sevilla.

Austrian midfielder Marcel Sabitzer scored a first half brace to give United a 2-0 lead.

But own goals by Tyrell Malacia in the 84th minute and Harry Maguire in the 91st minute pulled Sevilla level.

And speaking after the disappointing home draw, Ten Hag pointed out that though United will be without some players, they are capable of going through ahead of Sevilla.

“Bruno is suspended. Rashford is he in or out!,” manutd.com quoted Ten Hag as saying

“We don’t know right now but still we have a good team, we can line up a very good team in the away game. It is 2-2 so everything is open and we have to play our best.

“We know that and if we bring our performance then we are confident that we can go to the next round.”

United will face Sevilla in the Europa League quarter final second leg on April 20 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

United have won the Europa League once (2016/17) while Sevilla have won the Europa League a record six times (2005/06, 2006/07, 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2019/20).
