Ten Hag Reaffirms Faith In Anthony Amid Summer Exit Rumour

The 24-year-old left Ajax for United in 2022 in a deal worth £85 million.

Anthony has however struggled to make much impact at the Old Trafford.

The Brazilian has registered one goal and one assist for the Red Devils this season.

Omari Forson got the nod ahead of the pacy winger , while Amad Diallo came off the bench before him in last Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Fulham.

According to reports that surfaced earlier on Tuesday, United are to give up on Antony and take a significant loss in the summer.

Ten Hag has however backed Antony, claiming that when he is at his best, he is ‘unstoppable.’

“Antony – I backed him for a long time,” Ten Hag was quoted by The Metro.

“I know his abilities – great abilities. I know from the past he is unstoppable, no defender can stop him because he’s one of the quickest in the first 10 yards.

“When he plays that game I’m sure he will perform, he is resilient, he is a character, and he will fight back.

“I back him and he now has to wait for his chance and one he is there he has to pick it up.”

United will try to recover from their shocking loss over the weekend when they battle Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Wednesday.

The trophy seems to be the only one the Red Devils can lay their hands on.

They are currently placed 6th on the Premier League standings, and have been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.
