Okoye Targets Super Eagles Return After AFCON Snub

Maduka Okoye is targeting a return to the Super Eagles after missing out on a place to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

Okoye endured a torrid spell at Sky Bet Championship, Watford last season with injury limiting his appearance for the Hornets.

The shot stopper secured a permanent move to Serie A club Udinese last summer in a bid to revive his career.

The 24-year-old, who is now a regular starter at Udinese hopes to get a shot at international football again.

“I’m very well now. I feel 100%,” Okoye told the club’s official website.

” The national team is an important thing for me and I want to return as soon as possible. It was bad watching the Africa Cup of Nations from home, but this is football . ”

Okoye has made 16 appearances for the Super Eagles.

Absolutely, you are welcome. We still need you in the Super Eagles, but you have to focus on your club tasks for now and the way it is now, Nwabali is no1 goalie for Super Eagles.

Although two spots are available for grab. If coach Paseiro is honest with himself, he should know by now that Uzoho is not part of the team.

I wish you the best, Okoye. Keep improving yourself. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Omo9ja… What happens when nwabili gets injured. You said okoye should focus on his club. You said uzoho should not come to the team again. Then who will give nwabili the competition needed. Probably you just wrote this post without thinking about the benefits of competition in the team.

Uzoho and okoye are needed to come back. Let their be competition.

IT IS A GOOD THING TO HAVE AT LEAST THREE PLAYERS IN EACH POSITION IN A TEAM.
AS WELL FIT & REGULAR STARTER AT UDINESE, MADUKA OKOYE IS WELCOME BACK TO THE TEAM AS A BACKUP TO NWABALI.
THEN COACH PASEIRO SHOULD LOOK FOR ANOTHER CONSISTENT & REGULAR STARTER GOALKEEPER AS A THIRD GOALKEEPER TO MAKE THAT POSITION HIGHLY COMPETITIVE.

Lol… Because he heard that Arthur Okonkwo is cleared by Fifa to represent SE and Nwabali performed well at afcon, okoye is now scared. I thought he was doing Yanga before. Anyway, the more , the merrier.
