Tottenham 4-0 Crystal Palace

Tottenham were back to their best as they claimed a routine 4-0 home victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League. All the goals came in the first half as Spurs secured their first victory since the opening day, with Son Heung-min opening the scoring after just 11 minutes with a crisp left-foot finish.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were rampant throughout the opening exchanges and made it 2-0 on 21 minutes when Patrick van Aanholt turned Serge Aurier’s cross inadvertently into his own net.

Just two minutes later, it was 3-0 and again Aurier was the architect after his deep cross was volleyed home in emphatic fashion at the back post by Son.

There was even time for Spurs to make it 4-0 before the break when Harry Kane’s accurate delivery was turned home by Erik Lamela.

Palace, who had only conceded two goals in their four previous Premier League matches, did improve after the break but never really looked like grabbing a consolation goal.

Spurs took their foot off the gas during the second half although Son came close to grabbing his hat-trick when trying to imaginatively lob Vicente Guaita, but his effort only found the side-netting.

The win means Spurs have leapfrogged Palace in the standings although they remain seven points behind current league leaders Liverpool.
