Troost-Ekong Happy To End AFCON 2019 Campaign With Bronze Medal, MOTM Award

William Troost-Ekong is extremely thrilled to see the Super Eagles end their campaign at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in style following Wednesday’s 1-0 hard fought win against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in the bronze medal match, reports Completesports.com.

The Udinese defender is also happy to scoop the man of the match award in that Third-Place encounter played at the Al Salam Stadium Cairo.

Odion Ighalo’s third minute strike helped the Super Eagles secure bronze medal in the tournament.

“It’s been a tough competition for us but we are happy with the way everything ended. We wanted to make it to the final and win the trophy, but winning the bronze medal is a big consolation for us,” Troost-Ekong told Completesports.com after the game.

“Winning the man of the match is a big honour for me too. The game against Algeria was a tough one especially conceding that own goal.

“We hope to go a step further in future, possibly win the title in two years time.”
