World number one Iga Świątek from Poland will take on Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in the US Open women’s final on Saturday.
Świątek bounced back from a set down to beat No. 6-seeded Aryna Sabalenka in Thursday’s semi-final and progressed to her second Grand Slam final this year.
The match went the distance, with Świątek prevailing 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Świątek, 21, won the French Open for the second time earlier this year, then made it to the fourth round at Wimbledon. She is the first Polish woman to make a US Open final.
Sabalenka went up 2-0 to open the decisive set, getting to 4-2 before Świątek held serve and then broke Sabalenka at love to level things at 4-4. Świątek didn’t look back, holding on to win.

On her part Jabeur beat France’s Caroline Garcia 6-1, 6-3 in the first semifinal match of the day.
The 28-year-old Jabeur becomes the first woman representing an African nation to make a US Open final.
The No. 5 seed Jabeur is experiencing a breakthrough year after not advancing to a major final in her first 20 tries.
She also made the final at Wimbledon in July before falling to Elena Rybakina; her previous best run was to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in 2020.
Świątek and Jabeur are tied at 2-2 in their head-to-head series. They have met once already this year, with Świątek winning the Italian Open final 6-2, 6-2.
