Flamingos head coach Akeem Busari is confident his team will book a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup despite a stern challenge from Benin Republic.
Nigeria will face the Young Amazons in the second leg of their final qualifying round tie at the Stade de Kégué in Lomé on Saturday (today).
The Flamingos hold a slender 3-2 advantage from the first leg after battling to victory at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne last weekend.
Benin Republic remain unbeaten at home in the qualifiers and are determined to secure a historic first-ever appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Busari Backs Flamingos To Beat Benin
Busari, however, remains optimistic that his players have what it takes to finish the job and seal qualification for the tournament in Morocco.
“Games of this magnitude always come with pressure. Of course, we wanted to get a more comfortable result at home, but this is still the same tie, just being played in a different venue,” Busari said ahead of the game.
“We have worked on the players’ mentality and reminded them that they can perform anywhere. We’ve played in different places before and have done well.
“We will approach the game with the right mindset, and with God’s grace and a bit of luck on our side, Insha’Allah, we will come out victorious and secure qualification.”
