Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has said Jose Peseiro was right not to invite any home-based player for this month’s friendly games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in Portugal.
On Monday, Peseiro unveiled a 25-man squad for the doubleheader friendly games billed for October 13 and 16.
Enyimba goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo is the only home-based player who was invited for the game.
In an interview on Brila FM, former Super Eagles and Enyimba goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba, faulted Peseiro for not inviting more players from the local league.

However, Udeze defended the Portuguese coach for not inviting more than one.
“When did the league (Nigeria Premier Football League) start?” Udeze posited on The Breakfast Show on Brila FM.
“For this friendly games I don’t agree that more home-based players should have been invited. Maybe in future games but not this upcoming ones.
“They don’t have anything to do with this friendlies.”
The Super Eagles will use the two friendly games as preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in November.

We don talk taya.
CHAN is for home based players.
SE is for the best of the best ONLY.
Any other arrangement na WURU-WURU and MAGO-MAGO.
No HOME BASED QUOTA please. MERIT must be the decider!
If a homebased player shows that he is one of the best in his position, he may be invited. It’s up to the coach.
However, historically, when a home based player distinguishes himself, his days as a home based player are numbered. He becomes foreign based before you can say JACK ROBINSON.
If a homebased player distinguishes himself and becomes foreign based, does it make sense to stop inviting him simply because he is no longer home based?
@ brodaman Pompei, the thing nor shock you? The concrete dem mix to block the brains of those still debating about home based been invited to SE may have possibly defied every known chemical reaction. THE ONLY REASON WEY MAKE SENSE WITH SUCH CONCRETE NA SELF INTEREST ALIAS WETIN WE GO CHOP.
*** FOR ABOUT THE INVITATION OF HOMEBASE PLAYERS, we should not be deceiving ourselves about them(homebase) because none of the homebase players are READY to GIVE STIFF COMPETITION against the foreign professionals. NFF should be inviting homebase players for CHAN COMPETITION/QUALIFIER to prove themselves. THEN ANY HOMEBASE PLAYERS CLAIMING THAT HE IS GOOD TO BE IN SUPER EAGLE setting, SHOULD PROVE IMPROVE IN CHAN COMPETITION/QUALIFIER.
*** BUT WHEN YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE INVITATION OF NEW FOREIGN BASE CONSISTENT PLAYERS LIKE ADEBAYO- ADELEYE, S.OSIGWE, EBUEHI, OSAYI, JORDAN-TORUNARIGHA, BRUNO-ONYEMAECHI, ONYEDIKA, ALHASSAN, GIFT–ORBAN, AKPOM, DESSERS,. BONIFACE, EJARIA, EJUKE: ANY OF THESE PLAYERS, FOR SURE , CAN RIVAL OR GIVE A STIFF COMPETITION FOR INCUMBENT PLAYERS FOR SHIRT/POSITION..
FOR INSTANCE: It is very certain that
@ ADELEYE , OSIGWE can rival IZOHO, OKOYE for super eagle number one shirt.
@ EBUEHI, OSAYI can rival AINA for no. 2 position
@ JORDAN-TORUNARIGHA, BRUNO-ONYEMAECHI can rival ZAIDU, COLLINS, BASSEY for no. 3 position
@, ONYEDIKA, ALHASSAN can rival NDIDI, ONYEKA for no. 4 position
@ GIIT ORBAN, AKPOM, DESSERS, BONIFACE can rival ONUACHU, SADIQ, IHEANACHO, AWONIYI for no. 8 and 9 position
@ EJARIA, AMAO, OLISE, EJUKE can rival ARIBO, IWOBI, SIMON FOR no 10 and 11 position AND SO ON.
WE NEEDZ TO INVITE & GIVE CHANCES TO ALL THIS NEW PLAYERS to really know who can FIT-IN into Super eagle setting/position.
You guys have said it all I thought I was the only who read the Title of the Article and thought Ifeanyi Udeze is finally waking up. Only to see his reason being that “when did NPFL season start” nna men these ex internationals are reasoning like they have never played ball even more unfortunate is that the ones who played in Europe and saw Europe as the pinnacle in thier career and where they can say they have arrived if they make it there are the ex internationals tht are reasoning the worst and trying to be decieving people. Nawa oooo
If they like let the NPFL season be in full swing. NPFL Players are not good enough for international ball at the heighest level OGA Udeze and co.
Glory, e shock me ooo! I can’t believe we are still talking about this. A simple matter is being made to look complex by a bunch of greedy individuals.
If they keep insisting on home based, then let’s complicate the matter even further by looking at which region the player was discovered. Onitsha based vs Ibadan based, Port Harcourt based vs Warri based. Don’t forget Akwa Ibom ooo. Oya, which area should be given the highest quota?
Bunch of wetin we go chop nonsense. SE no be rehabilitation center or academy. Only the best of the best will do!
