Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has called on head coach Gernot Rohr to give other goalkeepers a chance in the Super Eagles second friendly against Cameroon on Tuesday.
The Eagles went to Austria with three goalkeepers, Maduka Okoye, Francis Uzoho and John Noble, for the double-header ties with hosts of the 2021 AFCON.
In Friday’s clash Okoye was in goal as the Eagles lost 1-0 thanks to a Andre Anguissa strike.

And ahead of tomorrow’s game, Udeze urged Rohr to allow the other keepers to be in action on Tuesday, faulting the coach’s decision to even pick Okoye in the first game.
“Why didn’t he give other keepers the opportunity (in the first game against Cameroon) we have someone like John Noble,” Udeze querried on Sports Machine on Brila FM.
“This is a friendly you have nothing to lose. He should give others the chance so that when they don’t do well he will know he has given them the opportunity.”Copyright © 2022 Completesports.com All rights reserved. … When real people wey know the make opinions if dust no full person head, you go recognize. We have seen Okoye enough recently, let Uzoho and Noble share each half of the 90minutes. We have nothing to lose. Put your money where your mouth is… Let’s see Olayinka from the start, Marcus and Moffi. We cannot continue to build for five years with same people whose dance we have already seen… Variety is the spice of life joor.
That how Udeze’s thinking is myopic. Let the gaffer install confidence on whoever he wants. Imagine if you Udeze was the coach, you just destroy the team with your poor thinking. Rohr do what you think is right. Allow him. He’s the coach.
Presh I must admit I’m disappointed by your statement. You think Okoye is magical right? Then what do you have to say about Mendy of Senegal or Former Nigeria goalie Vincent Enyeama. Take it or leave it Nigeria doesn’t have a decent goal keeper after Enyeama and this all boils down to the sacking of Shoromu only to be replaced by a mediocre Agu as goalkeeper trainer.
