Uyo Agog As Foreign Scouts Arrive For 4th Superstars Scouting Tournament

The beautiful city of Uyo is once again set to host the 4th edition of the annual Superstars Scouting Tournament with a legion of foreign scouts already in town for the programme which will run from Monday 14th to Friday 18th November 2022 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Superstars Academy’s flagship scouting programme has grown to become one of the best in the country with so many players currently plying their trades in Europe and North America oweing their success stories to the programme.

Speaking with newsmen, the President of the Uyo-based outfit and astute football administrator, Hon. Victor Apugo, assured that this year’s edition will be “one of a kind”.

Apugo who had just returned from Europe where he had gone to meet his foreign partners in final preparations for the tournament reiterated his commitment to the development of football in Nigeria and opined that he is only focused on unearthing the next big thing in Nigerian football.

He said: “This year’s Programme will be one of a kind; we have put everything in place to ensure a smooth take-off of the Programme which promises to be exciting. Most of top partners across Europe and Scandinavia leagues will be on ground from day one as we all look forward to unravel and unearth the next SUPERSTAR out of Nigeria”

“It has not been easy no thanks to the economy, but we’re not driven by money or personal aggrandisement,” Apugo remarked.

“Since inception our focus has always been to discover budding talents and also contribute our own quota to the overall development of the game in Nigera. I’m glad that we have been able to record huge successes with many of our players scattered across Europe.”

Apugo will be hoping this year’s tournament surpasses last year’s edition which saw almost a dozen young players realize their dreams of playing professional football outside the shores of Nigeria.

Chief amongst them are Nelson Orji and Emenike Nwogu at Atlanta United, Harrison Uchenna and David Jaja at Czech side Slovan Liberec, Preciuos Nwankwo and Moses Emmanuel at Sigma Olomouc, Grant Williams(MSK Vyskov), Kingsley Ugochukwu(La Nucia) and many others.
