Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho will play no part in Elche’s away clash against Granada at the New Los Cármenes Stadium in today’s (Monday) Spanish second division league, reports Completesports.com.
It’s the second league game in a row the 20-year-old Nigeria international will be missing from action fueling speculations on his future at the club, according to a report on a Spanish website, diariofranjiverde.com.
Uzoho is currently on a season loan deal from Deportivo La Coruna.
Elche have recorded one win this season away from home and will aim for a second in this campaign when they take on Granada who occupy the second spot in the Spanish second division league table.
Uzoho was left out of Elche’s matchday squad that defeated Ike Uche’s Gimnastic 1-0 last weekend.
The 20-year-old has kept three clean sheets and has conceded ten goals in seven league appearances.
Elche’s 18 man match day squad vs Granada:
Goalkeepers: Edgar Badia and José Juan;
Defenders: Tekio, Alexander González, Dani Calvo, Gonzalo Verdú and Manu;
Midfielders: Manuel Sanchez, Xavi Torres, Provencio, Karim Azamoum, Javi Flores, Josan, Ivan Sanchez and Nacho Gil
Strikers: Nino, Benja and Sory Kaba.

Eish…..?!
Etebo got married….lost his place at stoke..!
Uzoho gets married….losses his place at Elche..!
Abeg which one of our SE AFCON hopefuls wan marry again b4 afcon …?
That might be a factor @Dr. Drey. You left out Onazi who ballooned after he married and lost his place in the SE, along with other contributing factors. Simon Moses too married last year and I don’t know if it affected his low fortunes in the SE since then. It seems African women don’t know how to manage their professional sportsmen hubbies. Could it be the sudden excess African foods and delicacies? Just check out Mikel and Olga, Mikel is as athletic-looking as ever!
Lol…U think Olga is cooking for him?
Kel spot they have to read about food and nutrition!
Point of correction. Etebo received a red card and an automatic three match suspension. He used that time to get married in November. He returned after his suspension and is back in the team rating very highly (7.2) in his last match. If I’m not mistaken last weekend his performance was rated higher than Ndidi, Agu and every other Super Eagles eligible player in the top leagues. Marriage no spoil him belle or leg lol
KK. Thanks. Just double checked now. But he’s only started 2 of 6 matches after serving the 3 match ban….e should better not allow madam pump im belle b4 AFCON.
It’s the other way round. Two sub appearances and 4 full games since he returned from suspension

In other news Dele Alampasu was promoted from the under 23 squad of Feirense to their first team in the Portuguese premier League. He played yesterday and shut out the opposition with two saves one clearance and posted a clean sheet in their 2-0 win at Boavista.
Whoscored gave him an impressive 7.0 rating in his Portuguese Premier league debut.
As one drops another rises
Wow…@ Big D…that’s fantastic…! Cant wait for him and Uzoho to rekindle their U17 days rivalry abi na partnership in the Super Eagles. If there’s any man that deserves appreciation from G. Rohr today, it has to be Manu Garba and his 2013 crew. Uzoho had better woken up from his honeymoon. lolz. Rio olympics goalkeepr emma daniel has also retraced his steps back to Nigeria with Gombe Utd after going missing for 2 yrs at orlando pirates in south africa. I dont know if he got to play over the weekend.
Sodiafor….our Goalkeeping department is gradually getting sorted by God’s grace if more good newses like these persist. Enough of 30 something year old 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice goalies in the SE.
2013 crew getting game time in 2019: Alampasu, Chidera Ezeh Portimosese (Portuguese premier League), Musa Yahaya right back Porto B, Taiwo Awoniyi RE Mouscron (goal).
Add on Kelechi Nwakali (2015) now featuring and Abduljeleel Ajagun (2009) and hopefully are seeking more options
Chineke….Is Musa Yahaya now playing as a right back…??? The 3rd person of the 2013 u17 attacking trinity…. That guy that used to play and turn 360 like Andreas Iniesta. pls dont tell me yes..!
Yes Musa Yahaya is playing from right back now and he’s churning man of the match week in week out.He played from the mid filed in the under seventeen days and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that conversion, remember Bale, Valencia and even our own Joe Yobo, the list is endless.
But why must it always be african talents that has to be converted to defensive positions…? Kwadwo Asamoah was moved from no 10 to no 3 at juve. Yaya toure from no 10 to no 4 at barca until he later rediscovered himself at man city. Our own mikel from no 10 to no 4. Victor moses was a top striker when he played for england U17 in the mid 20s….now he’s a wing back. Now Yahaya who was so good as an attacking midfielder/ support striker that he was likened to Iniesta now playing as a full back…?
Musa Yahaya actually plays as a left wing back nowadays for the Porto B team
Although highly unlikely, should circumstances somehow contrive to make Uzoho lose his starting position to Alampasu, he may struggle to regain it back.
On his day, Alampasu reminds one of Man U’s David Da Gea: quick, nimble, acrobatic and elastic with excellent sense of positioning.
He showed glimpses of his star qualities yesterday when He received the highest rating among his teammates with 7.5 and also made two key saves and three clearances in the match against Rio Aves – his first top flight match.
More of where that came from please.
From the few highlights I saw of that game. Alampasu seems to be brimming with confidence. He delivered some spectacular saves in that game that I can only imagine what might’ve been. It’s quite heartwarming to see him make his first league debut in the Portuguese Primavera and boy did he deliver!!! His performance over the weekend should cement his place in the Feireinse squad going forward and as a result a potential recall to the SuperEagles fold is imminent.
Having both Dele and Francis as both our first and second choice goalkeepers is way better than having both Akpeyi and Ezenwa as backups to only Uzoho. I hope Uzoho’s absence is injury or suspension related because he wasn’t doing badly before he got injured and since he return from the last injury set back he hasn’t really made most of the match day squads. It’ll really be interesting to see what will happen in Egypt if both of then are in tip top shape before the AFCON.
@AY, Akpeyi kept a clean sheet against fellow relegation strugglers Maritzburg in his team’s 2:0 win on 19 January to earn himself a spot in allnigeria.com’s prestigious Nigeria’s team of the week column.
Just imagine a scenario where, leading up to the AFCON, Uzoho regains his starting slot and keeps regularly, Alampasu continues from where he left off over the weekend, Akpeyi continues to be consistent and both Ezenwa and Emmanuel Daniel play regularly in the NPFL: oh my goodness! The buzz around the goalkeeping department will be huge!! Huge!!!
I wish them all well and may the sharpest amongst them be selected (based on merit) to represent the Super Eagles in Egypt.
God bless Nigeria.
